Colors that complement a champagne wedding dress

Kori, on November 26, 2019 at 9:58 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 4 98
Hey There,
**FIRST TIME POSTING (so bare with me lol)**
I’m super stress trying to decide on a color for the bridesmaids dresses. My wedding dress is ivory, silver & champagne which is causing quite a challenge for me to commit to a color for the girl. My original plan was blush for the girls & dusty blue for the guys. Well blush.. varies from website to website & store to store. What I consider blush is a baby pink in one world & peach in another. So then I consider dusty rose.. then mauve.. & then I googled... & now I’m here! Lol. I’m getting married is May, at a country club with a beautiful green panoramic view. I need all the help I can get! I have attached pictures of me in my dress (front & back.. please excuse me running my mouth in the picture! Lol) & a picture of the blue I want the groomsmen to wear (because I’m pretty content with them wearing that color blue!) I think anything darker than your dress. Why don't you go to a bridal shop with your bridesmaids and look at different colors. I think a dark pink or peach would work.

I love love love Azazie for dresses as you can customize the size and you can choose any style. I think the vintage mauve and the dusty pink maybe pearl pink would go really well

Beautiful dress! You look amazing. And the blue suits are lovely. As far as your bridesmaid dresses, I think any of the colors you suggested will be lovely with your dress. I’m assuming you went bridesmaid dress shopping. If not I would start looking especially trying to figure out the color dress you want. I would say don’t be too concerned about your dress not matching their dress. Any of the colors you suggested will look stunning with your dress. I think you just need to figure out the color that speaks to you the most.

Does the bridal shop you got your dress have bridesmaid dresses where you can have your dress and the bridesmaid dress near each other?
If not try to snag as many fabric swatches in the colors you like and place them near your dress to see how you like them. And as you have learned, the color label means a million different things. I learned the hard way when I was telling my ladies the colors were real and gold. I started getting the fabric swatches and bam I got like 4 colors labeled teal and they were different colors.
Last thing, have you checked Pinterest yet? I totally picked my wedding colors (teal and gold) from a pin on their. I would have never put those together as my color.

Thanks for responding! We tried david’s Bridal but I made the mistake a falling for a certain style than worrying about the color. The style I fell for only came in the one color, red, & I didn’t want that color for my wedding.

Thanks for the suggestion Maggie, the vintage mauve & dusty rose sound right up my ally. I could be over thinking all of this honestly. Lol May know what I want after all.

Trust me I went back and forth on burgundy and Apple red quite a bit! What also helps is picking a color you love and ordering the swatches of it so that if the girls don’t want to get it from the same store they at least know what color it has to be

Thank you Becca! I tried David’s, & learned I don’t like the typically flows bridesmaids dress. Found the style, just struggling with the color. We are having a brunch wedding, so a morning/early afternoon, & I’m trying to go for a springy day time feel.. if that’s a thing! Lol. I just started collecting color swatches, they aren’t here yet! But I think it will help to put the colors next to my dress instead of comparing on the computer.

Sound very lovely! I know you will find the dress the you are looking for. It is so difficult to compare colors on screens. Depending on the resolution of your screen, the colors will appear differently. Hopefully the color swatches comes in soon so you can check this off your list of things to do.
Also one other thing I can share with you. I’m not sure if you thought about fabric itself. Each fabric will die the color differently. Same company, same brand, same dye the fabric will be slightly different. If I’m remembering off the top of my head satin is always darker than the cotton. Lace will be a little lighter than cotton as well. So when comparing your fabric swatches just remember that the material of the dress you are looking at might be a slightly different color than your swatch.

I wish you the best of luck finding your dream bridesmaid dresses. In the end, it will be fabulous no matter your selection. Happy wedding planning days. And happy wedding (soonish). 🥰

Yeah, I think color swatches have to be my piece of mind in this color world. Because the computer & my Pinterest addition isn’t cutting it! Lol.

Your dress is beautiful! Couldn’t picture all the 3 shades together but works wonderful. Love the guys dusty color suit, is beautiful and perfect for spring. As for the girls have you consider flower dresses? I’ll recommend all same dresses color/pattern for this. I think a spring wedding with the guys is dusty blue is beautiful and it’ll compliment the green view.

Yes! Actually I have considered flower dresses. I actually love that idea, just hadn’t found the right one. Well that & got a little discouraged that too much floral would take away from my dress. Worth looking into again, I really love the idea! Evening if 2 of the ladies wear them to mix it up!

Wow Becca, thank you! Maybe that’s another issue I’m running into and didn’t even notice until you mentioned it. Explains why I look at dresses & such a drastic difference in color from satin to cotton. Well now I know, thank you so much!

Your dress is gorgeous! Is the sample blush? What if your ladies wear steel blue or dusty blue to coordinate with your guys?

Don’t worry Kori nothing would take away from your dress. I had someone wear white during my wedding and I have attended wedding with people in white and the eyes always go to the bride. I found some pics of ideas but not sure what style you’re going for.

You can get color swatches from David's bridal or Azazie as others have said. I wouldn't worry about everything being exact and a name is just a name if the color matches it should be fine. I would just pick a color and have your bridesmaids all order from the same site so that you can ensure the colors will match.

Everything looks gorgeous ! I recommend AZAZIE WEBSITE for the dresses and order the men’s ties. We ordered swatches and compared them to the swatch for men’s fabric . We went will a dusty blue dress and tie, navy suit . I agree with some others a coral would like nice or even a peach
