Color Palette Help?

Alyssa, on January 28, 2020 at 3:07 PM Posted in Style and Décor 1 11

Does anyone have a good tool that helped them pick color palettes? I'm having a very difficult time mining Pinterest to pick out a palette. I've got a general sense of what I like, but am struggling with deciding on shades and matching colors that compliment one another. Also, how do I know what flowers come in a color from the palette and if they're in season??

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :-/

My sister bought me The Knot wedding planning book and my favorite part of it was a whole page with little square color pop outs that had suggestions of other colors on the back of them that compliment that color. It really helped me choose what colors I liked the best!

We went to Home Depot and pulled a bunce of swatches until we found what we loved. It may not be exact, but it was helpful to see the colors in person and together.

That's EXACTLY what I feel like I need to do. I feel like it's helpful to physically look at colors as opposed to doing so on a computer screen.

I had this book and it was so helpful. We knew what colors we wanted so I didn't have to worry about that. A florist would know what flowers are in season or would be able to suggest flowers based on your wedding colors. I have included some links that recommend some wedding color combinations.

I had so much trouble narrowing my colors down. I had at least 20 different inspo pics on pinterest and was getting overwhelmed looking at them. Eventually decided to show them to FH to try and narrow down the options. Within 5 minutes we had our colors which was a huge relief to me.

Yes! This is a great idea. I am in-person visual, too. I knew I wanted blush so I went to JoAnn's and started with a blush fabric and then just started going up and down the aisles comparing it to other colors until I found the ones I liked.

Best advice I can give to picking a color is find swatches so that you know the looks and feel of your possible color contenders. Also considering your wants and likes for decor. Modern, vintage, shabby chic and how your decor will accentuate your colors. So many beautiful colors but in the end start with a color you adore more and see what other palettes align with it. Pinterest was my first guide. Perfect ways to see how design and decor took course with the colors for weddings
