I still need a lot of addresses on my guest list and I want to send out save-the-dates. I'm really a "do it yourself" type of bride, but I just can't think of a proactive way to get addresses from both sides of the family.

I thought about doing a Facebook post, but I do not want all of the people on my friends list to think it is open invitation because it absolutely is not.

Help!! What was the easiest/quickest way to collect your addresses?

FH and I got the majority from our parents, then texted or Facebook messaged our friends individually. We told them it was for sending our save the dates, I didn't really care about ruining the surprise. It probably took a couple weeks, but we weren't in a hurry.

I would highly recommend against a Facebook post where everyone now thinks they will get an invite. Hard pass on that. I have, however, started messaging many friends and relatives on Facebook Messenger and it has been relatively quick and painless. I also have recruited FH, FMIL, and my parents to assist in getting them from folks I may not know.

I made my parents responsible for collecting any of their friends that they wanted invited addresses, my FILs responsible for their friends, and my FH and I did our own respective family and friends. We basically just texted everyone - it was easy enough. My FH did use white pages for a few as well.

Use an excel document to keep them organized - minted.com has a downloadable excel template to help input and organize the addrsses

We did private FB messages, emails, texts, and phone calls for all the addresses that we don't have.

I asked FMIL for all the addresses for FH's side. She did give me 3-pages handwritten, so I had to retype them in Excel, which was a little time consuming, but not bad. I had a lot of my family just from gathering addresses throughout the year. The rest I emailed or texted. Start early because it can be tedious and time consuming.

FMIL and FFIL are collecting all addresses for their family. They have most of them already. My mom is obtaining them for our side of the family. For friends, I'm either texting/calling them, or sending a facebook message. It's really not that hard.

Both sets of our parents had all of our families addresses and then we just asked our friends directly for theirs. It was seamless and easy!

Luckily my mom and FH's mom had the majority of our family's addresses. For those that they did not have, I messaged them privately on Facebook.

H and I decided whoever wanted to invite the people had to provide their address. MIL gave us a list of 250 people with no addresses or anything and we weren't trying to deal with that. I called friends I didn't have updated addresses for and so did he. My mom/grandma gave me family addresses for my side and MIL did whatever she had to do to find the ones for his side.

Hi there, I am planning to send our wedding guests a save the date Facebook invite since most of our friends are more responsive via social media. In creating the FB invite, I can hide the guest list and also disable the option for guest to invite others. I would like to add a link in the FB invite message for guests to access and submit their email, mailing address and phone number. I am in search for something similar to Postable.com that will allow me to generate a link and share easily via social media/text. I saw that someone mentioned Theknot.com has this feature but I am unable to locate it. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
