Cold day for Engagement Photos

Jackie, on November 2, 2019 at 2:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

What should I wear for my engagement photos? Weather predicts that it's supposed to be cold & cloudy. Did anyone else get their photos taken late fall? Show me what you wore!

How cold are we talking? Any chance for high winds or rain/snow? And how many outfits do you get?

We just did ours last night, and it was 38 with some mild wind and had snowed the day before. Not gonna lie, I was cold, and you could see it in how red my hands were getting. However, the sneak peeks that we got were beautiful!

For our first formal/dressier outfit, I wore a navy blue wrap dress with 3/4 sleeves that was floor length with no tights or anything, and heels with an open design. A lot of our poses were hugging or cuddling, which helped! My FH wore jeans, a dress shirt, and a sweater over it and was fine.

For the second more casual outfit, I wore a grey sweater, jeans, and black boots. My hands were still a bit chilly, but overall I was MUCH warmer. For this one, my FH was in jeans and an LL Bean flannel and was a bit colder than he was in his first outfit.

I brought along a bag with gloves and tissues and stuff, and we carried our coats in case we wanted to put them on in between photos/while walking to new spots.

If I had to pick different outfits, I might've gone with a heavier dress (I had a second option that was also a navy blue wrap dress, but it had long sleeves and lined material with thicker fabric; FH didn't like that one as much). I'd also consider a flannel or sweater with a cute vest and scarf -- those are cute classics that are also warm!

We took our pictures in the snow. I wore an ivory lace dress with a red sweater, wool tights and boots. It was cold but we sat in our car with the heater on periodically to warm up.

We just took ours today and it was 36 degrees with a chance of snow. I wore a maroon turtle neck with high waisted jeans and brown ankle heeled boots. For my second outfit, I wore an olive green long sleeved body con dress that came down to my knees with the same boots. I was so excited and in the moment that I didn’t even care about the cold. Plus, the cold is a good reason to get those intimate, snuggled pictures!

Idk if today counts as late fall, but it was definitely chilly when we took ours this morning. You probably can’t go wrong in sweaters and boots for late fall pictures. I was in an olive sweater with skinny jeans and ballet flats. My fiancé was in a cream sweater with jeans and boots. We did do some nice pictures in dressy clothes. I had on a green 3/4 sleeve knee length dress and my FH put grey slacks on. It was nippy, but our photographer had us pose in the sun when we could and lots of pictures close together.

We just did ours last Sunday! I wore a sweater booties and jeans, he wore a flannel, boots and jeans (and his hat, he insisted) It wasn’t super chilly that day, but cooler and we were comfy!

It was 34° approximately with a wind chill in the teens!! You'd never know it was that cold looking at our photos. I just about froze to death. 😂 Wear whatever you wish. 😊
