Coffee service at reception?

Alma, on September 30, 2014 at 10:15 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

I found 3 very inexpensive percolators on sale that I plan to use. I like the vintage-y look to them plus they plug in to brew so I don't need a stove and the cord comes off if I need it to. I have never used them since they are hard to come by because drip coffee makers are more popular ( Keurig etc) I got 3 of them for $10 when new ones typically sell for $50 bucks online. Not to mention I hear the smell of percolated coffee is nostalgic and quite potent. Smiley smile

Each one is for 8 cups , I figure I can periodically check to see if it's low and make more

Is anyone else serving coffee?

I think that is a cute idea. I guess it just depends on what time you are having your reception and what else is being served.

I will have coffee served but I suggest asking someone to check the coffee pots.

Great idea, since lots of people love coffee.

Just to check...when you say 'I can check' you don't mean yourself personally, do you? I know for my high school graduation party my sister was in charge of coffee and spent most of the afternoon making coffee. You don't want to spend your reception making coffee!! Smiley smile

I think I would be the only one who would want coffee so I am bringing my own. Coffee and beer don't really mix with the late night crowd.

Mine starts at 5p , but a lot of my friends and family are coffee drinkers. For dessert we are serving individual pies.

I posted pictures of what the percolators look like and a cute mug rack I found to display the cups.

You are right I should designate the checking to someone else. Another reason I think coffee will go over well is because half of my guest dont drink alcohol for religious reasons) They may need a reason to perk up.

Are you saying that you are using three percolators to serve coffee at your wedding? While the smell of percolated coffee is terrific, using three of them for your reception will only yield 24 - 30 smaller cups. Is your reception small enough that you won't be making coffee all day? Caterers generally use urns so that the coffee is always ready.

I only have 100 guests and I'm expecting only 20 people or so to drink coffee , the rest I imagine will drink wine or beer. My caterer doesn't offer this service Smiley sad

Before my dad passed away, we were planning on having a pot of coffee at his table just for him. He loved his coffee!

A caterer that doesn't offer coffee service? I really am shocked.

Its a BBQ restaurant that is catering. It's our favorite place to eat so we decided we would let them bring the food since our venue already provides the tables , chairs. Did I mention this is at a barn? It kind of goes with our theme.

We are having coffee (lots of it as well) but our catering people deal with it. That came as standard

My caterer doesn't offer coffee either, so we aren't going to be having any. Our wedding and reception is from 6 PM to 10:30 PM, so I think someone can go that long without it.

My mom is all down with it. It's her want and need, but I could careless on my end. :x She's getting the maker and things from my tent person (?) whilst my DOC will be making sure the coffee stays good.

Our venue, not our caterer, is providing our coffee actually. Our venue is a coffee shop/cafe during the weekday for breakfast and lunch. I mentioned we might get a coffee service and the owner said they could sell us coffee for $10/pot or carafe (whichever it was) and they would have all the fixings for it also.
