I've seen coffee served with cake/ dessert at most weddings. I'd suggest just getting a box of sugar packets, a box of powdered creamer or something that wouldn't need to be refrigerated (unless there's a refrigerator on-site you could just keep a few jugs of creamer in), some cups, stir sticks, and few to-go cartons of coffee from Starbucks or Dunkin. If your fiancé's family is the ones insisting on coffee, that could be his responsibility to get.

My FMIL also told me this is a must. She's very big on traditional etiquette, so maybe this is somewhat of a generational thing. We are having a formal wedding, though, and it sounds like you're not.

Maybe it seems a bit bullying, but just think of this as a common courtesy along with the rest of the preparations.

Yeah we definitely are not and we’re not doing much traditional either. But it seems everyone agrees I should

Coffee is commonly served at receptions after dinner, so there will always be some people who will expect it. But the coffee drinkers are usually a pretty small percentage of overall guests, so if you can't afford it/can't figure out a way to provide it easily, then it's not such a big deal not to have it.

Sounds like the people who are pressuring you about reception details are exactly the type of people to stop talking about reception details with.

That's bummer I don't think its a huge deal if there is none but if people are making a fuss over it I think the best options would be to borrow a few keurigs and get a box of k-cups (you could have hot coco too with a Keurig) or uber eats some coffee boxes from dunkin and call it a day. Keep it very casual. Best of luck to you!

I don't think I've ever attended a wedding that didn't serve coffee + tea along with the wedding cake. Nothing to do with the formality of the wedding, it's just an expectation in my experience that coffee is served with the cake

    I see two options:

    1. Tell everyone you are providing all food and beverages and they will have to deal with not having coffee... lol

    2. Get a coffee traveler from Starbucks or somewhere else! They're about $25 for 96 oz of coffee. They keep coffee hot for a long time. It might be a good option if not everyone wants coffee and you want to get everyone off your back. Smiley smile
