CocoMelody?

Desireé, on July 24, 2017 at 6:23 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 43

A few weeks ago I had an appointment with David's Bridal. The nearest one is 2 hours away and it was hard to get my bridesmaids together at the same time so I was determined to find my dress that day.

The consultant didn't listen to a thing I told her about what I wanted and kept bringing me the opposite of what I wanted. (I'm a curvy size 14 and I wanted a mermaid/trumpet fit but she kept bringing me A line dresses even after I told her that I knew for sure that I didn't like that style.) But I continued to try on the ones she brought me to humor her. Before I knew it my 90 minutes were up and I felt pressured to say yes to the only dress that I liked so I did.

I paid over $1,000 for the dress with my debit card.

After I got home and looked at the pictures of me in the dress I instantly regretted settling. I found one on CocoMelody that I love for less than half the price. Should I cancel my David's Bridal order and order through CocoMelody or stick with what I have?

Cancel regardless of cocomelody . It's not your dress! You didn't get to really see what you wanted

If I order through CocoMelody the dress should be here in 6 weeks, but with only 12 weeks left until the wedding I'm nervous about something being wrong with it and not having enough time to fix it.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of.

That's a real concern. Can you go back to DB and ask for a different consultant maybe? If you don't love your dress, I think you should try and get what you want, but ordering it online at this point is risky.

David's Bridal said that they'll give me a full refund since I ordered the dress in a different size and it hasn't come in yet.

I can say with 100% confidence - go with CocoMelody! I had the worst time at DB and was so pressured. CocoMelody was no pressure and were wonderful. I just got my dress in and I am in love! My custom veil, made to measure and back changes were less than $1k! Dress pic is attached from trying on my dress for my Mom this past Sunday. It is exactly what I wanted!

Edit - I got it in about 6 weeks too!

Thank you so much! This is what I needed to hear! I'm looking at ordering a standard size 1 size bigger than what i need and having it altered locally. How long did it take to get your dress after you ordered it? Have you had any problems with customer service?

@FB99 from what I understand it's easier to take one in than to let it out. I can get as close as possible with their size chart but I'm sure that some alterations will be necessary

@FB99 There aren't a lot of local stores to choose from and this dress from Cocomelody is exactly what I have in mind. After the pressure I was put under at DB I'd rather not do that again

Have you already tried on a dress in that similar style? I'd be super nervous to put all my hope into a dress online, especially if you haven't tried on a similar shape.

@Desiree have you checked into CocoMelody's made to size? That is what I did. My dress fits like a glove and no alterations need to be made except for a layer being added to the petticoat we ordered (it was too short for my nearly 6' tall frame) and the alterations were included. Excuse the stupid look on my face while holding my veil, but here is the front of my dress.

Edit - I have been so happy with my dress. The people there have been AMAZING!!! I didn't want a corset back, and I got buttons and a zipper. Since the change fee was $150 they just went ahead and made it to measure. It was the best thing I have done. I was not the girly girl who would get all sentimental about my dress till I put it on the first time and it was everything I wanted and more. And at a price I couldn't believe. My BM dresses are coming from there, my Mom's dress, and I even ordered a dress for another friend's wedding in December. I can't speak more highly of them.

I wouldn't buy a dress that I wasn't in love with. I bought my dress online and it was shipped to my house and custom made in 4 weeks. Go for it!! I've heard good things about Cocomedley.

@Rebecca I was wondering about the custom orders and

how well they work. I may just do that but I'll still expect that some alterations will be necessary and maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I've read nothing but good reviews about them which kind of scared me away because of the RoseGal scam (they were posting fake reviews and deleting anything negative). You've made up my mind! I'm gonna go for it! Thanks again!

    Btw your dress is gorgeous!

Girl if I had as much time as you do I wouldn't sweat it lol I'm only freaking out because my day is only 3 months away.

If you order now you shouldn't have any problem.
