Cocktail Hour in the same room as the Reception

Lots of people do this. I think it just depends on the space and your guest count.

HCTC & Celia, thanks! The room is pretty big and everything is basically spaced out, between the dance floor, bar, and guests seating, so I guess it should work fine.

But I never actually thought about the pictures during the cocktail house. We're doing a first look, and we plan to have two separate photographers to photograph FH/GM and my BMs and I before the first look. I think that time would be perfect for us to take complete bridal party photographs. Thank you!

I don't love it, I feel like guests will just go to their tables instead of mingling, but I don't hate it enough for it to have been a deal breaker.

I'm not planning on a bridal party entrance, so I have no suggestions. They're unnecessary, I wouldn't stress over it.

Fall, I don't think they're necessary either, but it's one of those things where I want it, can't let it go, and I have no idea why lol.

You can definitely make it work.

You mention there is a lot of space. Could they set up food near the bar and have a few high top tables? We would normally mingle by the bar and enjoy a few bites. They can remove all or some of them after the cocktail hour.

A&L, that could certainly work. I have a meeting with my venue to put another deposit down, so I will bring this up there. Also, they just redid the entire bar and combined two separate bars into one, so it is huge with lots of space. I see where the high top tables could come in handy. Thank you!

Mine will be held in the same space as the reception. I'm thinking the bridal party as well as myself and FH will just exit the room and wait for the dj to formally announce us when it's time

Ours is in the same room as well.... we will have high tables in the "hallway" area as well as outside in the garden area.... my FH and I as well as the BP will be taking pictures during this time.... granted we will take some pictures before the ceremony but most will be during cocktail hour....
