Co-hosts on shower invitation

kaw74, on January 19, 2017 at 11:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hi all,

I'm MOH for my friend and I'm making the invitations for the shower. Here's the deal:

Her mother is footing most of the bill because she insisted on having it at a fancy winery with 40-50 guests. The bridesmaids (7 of us total) are all contributing $100 each and it comes out to about a quarter of the total cost. I'm covering small things like the decorations and invitations too.

On the invitations, should I put "Hosted by [mother's name]" or "Hosted by [mother's name] and Bridal Party?"

I feel weird asking the mom what she prefers because I think she's too nice to insist only her name is listed as host. Smiley smile

Thanks!

I'd go with "Hosted by [mother's name] and Bridal Party or The Bridesmaids"!

My shower invites just went out and I wish my bridesmaids had thought of this! My mom is footing the entire bill for the venue. The girls were only responsible for the invitations, cake and decorations. I saw a pic of the invites yesterday and it says hosted by the Bridesmaids!? umm what about my mom! Idk if my mom was hurt by it because she would never say anything but it bothers me.

I would put hosted by [mother's name] and the Bridesmaids.

We totally skipped the hosted by part on my invites - my mom paid the bill, but my aunt and sister helped, and all 3 hosted. People who know my family, are well aware my mother took care of it all, but it doesn't matter to her if people know, it's not about credit to her - it's about a nice time.

That being said - I think if it just listed my sister it would have been a slap in the face considering my sister just helped out the day of.

So this happened with my shower, but the invitations only said "Hosted by the Bridesmaids" because, while my mom paid for it, that's all that she did. She didn't plan anything besides asking them to have it at a certain restaurant because that's what she wanted, so that's why she paid. Everything else - decorations, favors, etc. was all up to them. My bridesmaids were also responsible for choosing invitations, mailing them, collecting RSVPs, etc.

My mom also didn't want her name on the invitation at all. I would ask what the mom wants to do, because she might not want her name on it at all.

I agree, I've never seen a shower invite naming the host(s).

I'd leaving the hosting out or definitely make sure your mom is listed first and then the bridesmaids

My mom didn't put "hosted by" on the invitations. She paid for most of it with a little help from my sisters. Who cares who paid for everything? A time and place is sufficient.

I'm not planning on putting any sort of "hosted by" info on anything.

"Hosted with love by family and friends" is all-inclusive and commonly used.
