Cloudy Day Epics?

Michelle & Logan, on October 25, 2016 at 4:35 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 32

Tomorrow FH and I are supposed to take epics. There's a 60% chance of rain but it goes down to 20% and cloudy by the afternoon... should we still take the pics tomorrow? Have any of you taken pics on a cloudy day? I thought it'd be nice to have nice sunset pics, but FH and I have such opposite work schedules that I'm worried it'll be a while if we reschedule.

I actually heard that cloudy weather is the best lighting for pictures. Have you asked your photographer their thoughts?

I took mine on a cloudy rainy day. I love them. If it's the right photographer, they'll make it work and use the lighting to their advantage.

@mimitrue I've emailed my photographer, but haven't heard back from him yet. Just the other day it was 0% chance of rain... typical Iowa weather!

@soontobemrsp that picture looks nice! My photographer is good so I'm sure it'll be fine, just not what I was expecting!

Just an FYI, this was from a cloudy day, and it ended up in the newspaper complimenting our photographer.

Cloudy days are the best days! If it's sunny, the light can be direct and harsh. Clouds diffuse it and make for some fantastic backdrops too!

I took mine on a cloudy and rainy day. He edited some of the photos to put in some blue sky (not this photo though lol).

We had ours taken on a cloudy day. Our photographer said it was perfect because there wouldn't be any harsh light from the sun to fight. Our pics turned out great!

The lighting on a cloudy day is amazing for pictures. The clouds act as one big soft box and turn out wonderfully!

My recent engagement pics were on a cloudy day, which I was super worried about. The flat light, as opposed to bright intense sun, made for lovely pictures. The gray made the colors on the trees pop. I absolutely love mine

Thank you for the reassurance everyone! We're taking our pictures on the college campus that we met at and it has so many beautiful colorful fall trees right now, so maybe it'll bring out those fall colors more!

Clouds are photographers best friends. For some shots, our photographer was literally looking up at the sky and waiting for the clouds to cover the sun before taking our pictures.

I agree with the other posters! And even if it does rain, you can still take adorable umbrella pics! Smiley smile

Don't let a cloudy day scare you about photos - overcast can help with photos in reducing harsh lighting/shadows! Smiley smile
