Clip on earrings..

Seale, on September 1, 2016 at 7:04 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

My ears aren't pierced any more and I've been thinking about wearing clip on earrings for our upcoming engagement pictures and then the wedding next November. My worry is them falling off and losing them. Does anyone have experience with clip ons? Any issues with them falling/sliding off? What about the dangly kind of earrings?

My friend wore light dangly pearls from Etsy for her wedding, if I hadn't know she bought clip-ons I wouldn't have been able to tell. They were super light though, I can't imagine heavy crystal dangly ones. My pierced ones are heavy enough!

I dont have experience with clip on earrings, but my mom wears them because her ears arent pierced. According to her experience they dont fall off or anything. I would give them a try.

Thanks! I think I'll find a pair soonish and try them out. I'm still a month out from e-pics so plenty of time.

The only time I've worn clip ons they hurt like #%^*. That was about 30 years ago, so they have probably improved.

I didn't get my ears pierced until I was 25, so I've worn many a pair of clip ons and magnetic earrings. Some clip ons were wonderful and never fell off. Others had issues staying on. I definitely recommend trial and error. Get a pair you think you want and wear them around the house to see if you have any problems.

Magnetic ones are painful. I would wear them for performances where studs were required, but I would not recommend them for your wedding day.

If I remember correctly, the pair of clip ons I had the most issues with were Jessica Simpson hoops. I usually wore tiny hoops and decided to branch out and get a slightly larger pair. They had really small, lightweight clips that couldn't stay put and they fell off all the time. Every other pair of clip ons I bought in a department store were great.

Try Charming Charlie or Icing. Get some inexpensive ones and try them out. I have on clip ons today...sometimes they can pinch.

Honestly, I've considered having my ears repierced but the last three or four times I had earrings in my ears, I had bad allergic reactions. Despite being twelve when I started having the reactions and being twenty five now, I'm not really sure I want to try that again. Any ideas where I can find them? I plan to scour Etsy but I haven't found any in the stores in my hometown.

Never had a problem with them falling off, but they hurt so bad and my ear lobes were blood red when I took them off .

If allergies are the problem, my ears react and get infected if I have anything besides surgical steel in. I search Etsy and Amazon for surgical steel earrings, and you get even more results if you search "316L earrings". But I definitely understand not wanting to try again since you've had bad experiences!

Department stores carry clip ons at the jewelry counter. Some will be marked "hypoallergenic."

@Emmalemmaly If I go the repiercing option, I'll look into those.

@BlueHen I'll search around some more. Theres a very good chance I overlooked them.

Check out no piercing ear cuffs. They have such cute ones now!!

Another route is that stick on rhinestones. My friend did that on her ears and neck. Pretty cute!

You really have to check all of the rotating earring displays on the counter. They're hard to spot if you're not actually reading the labels on the card. I always bought them from Macy's and Boscov's, but I'd be really surprised if others didn't carry them, as well. I think I had a bunch by Charter Club and Monet that were both comfortable and never fell off.

Look for ones with screw backs. They are more expensive but much nicer.

I'll definitely look into screw backs!

I've worn dangle crystal clip ons to a military ball. (Aka lots of drunk dancing and rough housing) they didn't budge but he did hurt like crazy. I think I got them from Macy's.
