Cleaning your rings..

Catalena, on July 27, 2019 at 7:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23
I’m curious on how you all clean your own rings? I was peaking at my peaking at my wedding band, and noticed that my engagement ring is in desperate need of a cleaning because it’s dull and not as shiny as the band is.
I read up online and the “experts” said the best way is regular dish soap and warm water and to let your ring soak for 30 minutes. I did that and it’s still not as shiny.
Should I just take it to the place where he purchased them from and have them to professionally clean it?

Yeah, if the dish soap trick didn't work, taking it to a jeweler is your best bet.

I clean mine every week with jewelry cleaner that is safe for gold & diamonds. Then I take it to the jeweler every few months to get it professionally cleaned. I would go to the jeweler and have them clean it, then see if they have cleaner there you can purchase. That way you know it will be safe for your ring.

Daughter's jeweler professionally cleaned hers before soldering her wedding ring to her engagement ring the week before the wedding, and it looked gorgeous -- you couldn't tell that she'd been wearing one for 18 months and the other was brand new.

My DH bought the rings at Jared's and they professionally clean them every 6 months for free so that's what I do.

A lot depends on the materials of your ring. If you have the ability to get it professionally cleaned you should do that. You can also ask them if they use soap or cleaners you can buy.
I do hydrogen peroxide if mine are really dirty

I use dawn dish soap, warm water, and a tooth brush every 14 days or so to keep it clean. Usually, soaking it isn’t enough and I need to use the tooth brush to make it shine

Same, I have my ring professionally cleaned and inspected every 6 months. I also take my ring off when cleaning extensively, doing dishes, going to the gym, or swimming to keep it clean and in good shape.

I haven't needed to clean mines yet but when I do I'm going to try dawn dish detergent with warm water and brush.

I follow the instructions the shop gave me. Warm dish water soak for 10min, light scrub with a soft bristle toothbrush, good rinse, and it's as shiny as day one. The shop advised against ever using commercial cleaners so I'm avoiding them.

I took my ring back to the jeweler to get it clean and we asked how do they clean the rings and the rep said that they clean yours with a little dish detergent and warm water. Please keep in mind that the solution is keep warm all day long at the jewelers so when they clean your ring it comes out shiny

I took my ring back to jewelers to have my ring clean but they also check my ring for any diamonds that might be missing or loose and they will replace them. That is because we have plan that would take care of our rings when we take back to the jewelers they check for those type of things.

I used to work in a jewelry store and we used Simple Green and warm water then to shine it up high pressure steam. Definitely take your ring the store where it was purchased a couple of weeks before your wedding to have your engagement ring refinished to match your wedding band.

I would not recommend using toothpaste as it leaves a cloudy residue on your stones.
