Church Wedding… is my dress inappropriate.

FutureMrs18, on March 5, 2018 at 11:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
I am getting married in a church, but my wedding dress is strapless. How bad does that make me look? And if it does make me look bad, what is a way that i can wear the dress without those hideous bolero jackets

Most churches are fine with it. However, you should speak to your priest/pastor to determine what the rules are for the specific church at which you are getting married.

I have the same situation, but the father I spoke to seemed very relaxed about the whole thing so I'm just going strapless. You could get a little something to put over the top, just for the wedding ceremony. I was going to do something like the small "cape" seen in the photo.

My church is not a strict church. I guess just looking online and seeing how judgmental people are about it scares me a bit.

You can always check with your minister or priest for any rules regarding modesty. I, personally, couldn't find a dress with straps within the time frame of our engagement and wedding, and ended up purchasing a strapless dress. However, I did end up also getting a capelet for Church because I know I will feel more comfortable with my shoulders covered.

It’s really up to you if your church allows it. I don’t see an issue with it, we are not living in the 1700’s anymore. If you would feel better with something to cover more during the ceremony try something like this: http://www.davidsbridal.com/product_tulle-topper-with-lace-appliques-wg150_jackets-and-wraps

it it is a lace/tulle “shirt” that you put on under your strapless gown giving the effect that the dress has illusion sleeves. Then after the ceremony you could remove it and be strapless again! There are a lot of different ones if you google “wedding dress topper.”

I'm planning to wear a fingertip veil and to wear my hair partially down for my church wedding. Strapless is totally acceptable (in most churches) as long as you aren't falling out of it, but I personally wanted something that would fall across my shoulders.
