I want to have a small and casual wedding/reception... being that it’s at a church, alcohol and a DJ just aren’t plausible... if I set it for right after lunch.... what are good ideas for the reception? I don’t care about all of the traditional things like tossing flowers or dancing.... would that make for a boring reception?

People love the opportunity to mix and mingle and socialize at weddings. Some of my favorite weddings have been early afternoon ceremonies with light refreshments.

Agreed! Don't stress! Do the light refreshments at church and if you and several others want to hit the town later to celebrate then have a ball!!

Perhaps games would be a fun way to engage guests and have some fun! Oh and a slideshow of baby pictures of you and your fiance!

Our wedding was at 11 followed by a lunch reception. We were at a restaurant and had no dancing. Please don't feel obligated to "entertain" guests. Serve a lunch and people will be very happy to sit and mingle and talk. Can you hire a guitarist? Or perhaps a trio to play music in the background? If you want to serve only light refreshments don't have your reception line up at a mealtime, for example have the wedding at 1pm followed by light refreshments. Say that in the invite.
Personally, I am not a fan of slide shows but if that is your jam go for it!
