Church Cocktail Reception

Courtney, on April 2, 2020 at 10:26 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
To save money we are planning to do a cocktail/reception brunch and then dessert in the recreation room at my childhood church. I was wondering if anyone had ideas with food and decor. But I also was wondering if they were allowed to incorporate dancing and alcoholic drinks. I’ve read on some things that they don’t do a registry when it comes to this type of wedding layout personally I don’t understand that cuz we are having a really nice caterer It’s just too early in the day to have a sit down meal.

Any input is appreciated! Smiley smile

A lot of churches won’t allow you to have alcohol on their property and possibly won’t allow dancing. You’ll need to talk to your church to see what their rules are for wedding receptions.
As for a registry, I can’t think of any reason you couldn’t have a registry.

I agree with the last comment. Would check with your pastor and church. I know my church would definitely NOT allow alcohol, but they allowed dancing only to approved family friendly music.

I also don't see why a registry would be a problem. Its still a wedding celebration and people can always choose to give cash if they prefer.

A registry shouldn't be an issue.

Decor and food and drink should be cleared through your church. They usually have strict rules on how you can alter their space, as well as what you can serve.

Your church might even have someone who helps coordinate these things, so it's never a bad idea to ask.

Most church's don't allow alcohol so check with them. Wedding decorations cone from the theme or colors of your wedding shop around though get in expensive ideas from pinterest.

You have to ask the church. Alot of them don't allow dancing or alcohol on the property.
Don't serve alcohol unless you're serving a full meal that will soak it up. But you can get appetizer trays from Costco.

The registry is completely unrelated to what type of reception you're having, as guests want a guideline of what you want.
