Church aisle decor? - no candles & no easy way to hang from pews

Katie Beth, on April 22, 2018 at 5:41 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 16

Hi! The church where I'm getting married does not allow candles, and will only allow floral/decor to be hung from the pews via elastic bands - no tape, nails, tacks, staples, glue or pins. The pew backs are a solid piece of wood - picture attached - so no easy way to hang decor from them. I don't want an aisle runner, but I need some help figuring out what we can do to dress up the aisle instead. The greenery garland quotes I'm getting are $8-10 per foot, which is way out of budget. Any ideas you have would be so appreciated!

You could hang kissing balls with ribbon along the ends

Tall vases that sit on the floor, with something inside, could be unique and pretty.

Also along those lines would be a potted plant that comes up to about the height of the pews.

*I know the photo has a real candle but you could use a fake one *

Why don't you do lanterns with LED candles instead of real candles, decorate the lantern with a few flowers, or rose petals from lantern to lantern. You can also just leave the aisle as is and just do flower arrangements for the altar.

Thanks, Casey - I had both of those photos pinned! Re: the first one - our ceremony is at 3pm so unfortunately I think the twinkle lights wouldn't be noticed and it would just look like some bunchy tulle; and re: the second one - I failed to mentioned above that the church won't allow loose petals either. Could still do the lanterns on their own but I think it might look sparse. But thank you for your thoughts, and I love that we like the same aesthetic!

So sorry to hear that! I’ve seen lanterns on their own but agree they really only look okay. I also agree the y’all vases are nice! You could do vases with water and floating (unlit) tea lights

Is there any way you could get tulle and make bows longways like that? Like wrap it around and tie a bow? If you could get some sort of decoration for every other or every few pews, then you could get away with just doing lanterns maybe!

I’m getting stomach high columns for my ceremony. I just love how they look. I can put flowers on top of them and run tule from them.

The pews are very similar to the ones in our church. Can you use pew clips to attach bows?

Minus the petals. You can have a pretty runner with it.

You can use several different types of hooks and hangers. Your decor is viewed from the back of the pews as people enter (also by the photographer). You can use the hooks to hang the decor of your choice or rope off the aisle with ribbon.

I wonder if they would allow you to use command hooks? No damage and they hold a lot of weight. Many color options also.
