Chronic illness brides -maybe tmi

Amanda, on September 17, 2019 at 6:34 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 16
My wedding is next month and I have just calculated that I will be having my period that weekend. I am not upset because of why you think... I am upset because I have endometriosis and the first 2-3 days of my cycle are debilitating. I can’t shake the feeling/fear that I will be in so much pain the day of. I was wondering if anyone else suffers from endometriosis or other chronic illnesses, and if you are afraid of a flare up too? I know there is not much I can do, I just can’t believe the timing. Hopefully I can somehow change my birth control cycle slightly to start a bit earlier, but I’m not sure if that is possible. I’m going to make sure I can relax as much as possible the morning of with my heating pad, but once everything starts I might be screwed lol.

I have PCOS and have had the same concerns. Are you on the pill? Can you skip your sugar pills to skip or delay your period?

So I am using the nuva ring and I used to be able to skip my period by replacing the nuva ring instead of having a period but lately that hasn’t been able to happen, and I get breakthrough bleeding with just as much pain/bloating Smiley sad I may be over thinking this whole thing I just know how bad it can get the first couple days and I just hope it won’t cause any issues!! It’s so unfair to have to worry about this stuff Smiley sad

Totally understand! I have facial neuralgia and if I'm in a flare, it is extremely painful and can keep me in bed for days. Weather, stress, pushing myself physically all can cause a flare. I Even have to adjust my botox (for the neuralgia) schedule to make sure I'm covered for the wedding.

Omg yes! I have endometriosis AND I was just put on blood thinners 😫 Every month is like a crime scene. I spend at least 1-2 days laid up in bed every month now. I am terrified I will have my period during my wedding. If so, I will be completely doped up for my wedding because hydrocodone is the only way I can even walk during those days

I used to have terrible periods, but I'm so thankful for the Vaginal Ablation. Best thing ever. I should have done it years ago.

I totally understand! I have Lupus and had PCOS/ Adenomyosis prior to having a hysterectomy. I’m afraid I may flare but I’ve kind of planned the day so it’s relaxing and I can middle through if need be. I’ve also kept things small so everyone there knows me well and will help make things easier on me if I’m flaring.

Omg yes this is exactly how I am, it’s terrible. I’m so afraid if I can’t somehow adjust my period to be before the wedding that it will ruin the day Smiley sad I’m glad someone else understands what I am going through though! Praying for a pain free wedding day for you Smiley heart

I wish I would’ve had more time to look into treatment options before the wedding!! I’m glad you found something that helped you, I will look into this for future options! Smiley heart

Honestly, I'd say to call your doctor and discuss the concern with them. They may have an idea or solution that would make you not have to worry about pain on your day.

This is a good idea, I just don’t want them to think I am looking for pain medication but I will see if I can tell them that and see if they have any ideas! Thank you!!

I was thinking that maybe they could prescribe a secondary contraceptive that could delay your cycle or something like that. But you are so right in thinking about the pain meds trap I'm sure they are looking out for these days!

I haven’t heard of people forcing their periods to arrive early, but I have definitely had friends Who just continued to take their birth control pills (ie, don’t take the week off/take the sugar pills- just start the new pack immediately) which will prevent you from having a period. My female OB/GYN actually hasn’t had a period in 8 years!! She said that if you are not trying to get pregnant, there is absolutely no medical need for you to menstruate every month. I am not able to take birth control pills due to my history of blood clots, otherwise I would 100% be doing this method for my wedding!
