Choreographed first dance?

Natasha, on April 8, 2010 at 11:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

I'm just wondering if anyone is doing a choreographed first dance. We're on a tight budget, but I really want to squeeze this one in. I LOVED Rock the Reception when it was on the air. I want to find a fun, upbeat song, but it's hard. Neither of us are any good, though, so we probably won't do anything too crazy. I just want it to be fun and something everyone will remember. The only downfall is that my MOH lives too far away to be included in it and I don't want to have the BM in it if my MOH can't, so it'll just be FH and myself.

We have zero dancing skills, so we DESPERATELY need someone to tell us what to do.

I love the idea. I am choosing a dress that will look great when I'm dancing in it and hiring a choreographer. I'm a dancer, but he is NOT, and I think it's going to make him feel more comfortable to know what to do. We're going to have Michael Buble's L O V E or Me & Mrs. You for the first song, I think.

Yes I am because I want my first dance to be unique, fun, creative and different. But the good thing is that I do not have to hire a choreographer because, I am a dancer myself. Well, I teach dance as well so I will be doing our choreography for the first dance. FH is so not looking forward to it :-).. Lol. Says that I will be complicated with the moves, but i'll try to be nice. Back to you, you should look around before choosing a final choreographer/instructor. There are tons out there with reasonable prices. Have you picked a song yet?

I'm thinking of doing Everything by Michael Buble, but I'm still hoping to maybe find something more upbeat. Also, I am toying with the idea of doing things out of order and essentially having our "first dance" before the vows and such.

Also, vendors and resources are extremely limited where I live, so I found the ONE AND ONLY dance instructor in my town or anywhere in the vicinity to offer wedding choreography.

And thanks, Lenora, that video is awesome!

We are having our first dance choreographed, we are actually half was through our lessons and know the entire dance except how to end it (which we will learn tonight!). FH and I have absolutely no dance experience, but we really wanted to Tango for our first dance, only 5 lessons in and I think we are doing really well! :-)

The place we're going to does 5 lessons total for the wedding choreography package. I'm just not sure how far out we should do it because I don't want us to look like complete idiots by forgetting or something. Plus, I want to have the option to purchase additional lessons if need be.

Some DJ's can actually help you with this. They can provide the actual track and some I know will even help you choreograph. Granted, they're not professional dancers, but you might want to consider asking your DJ if this is something s/he can do. You might be surprised.

P.S. I have two left feet. Don't look at me!

Our DJ actually teaches line dancing lessons, but I don't want to line dance for our first dance! We will, however, have him out on the floor showing people how to do some dances.

Hi everyone, I know dance lessons are really expensive. My clients previously found hidden costs for something they didn't even really want. Alot of couples want to do a choreographed dance but rarely want the lessons that they will not really ever need again. I have done some homework and found out that Dance routines are not always included in your package and can cost between $400 to $750. I choreograph fun surprising dance routines. Just like the ROCK THE RECEPTION. I am located in Ottawa, Canada, however, I now provide tutoral video. I still choreograph your routine with your music you pick and I upload it so you can be located anywhere as long as you have a computer. You get your full routine and the instruction for the steps. I only charge $250.00 taxes incl. I send your two copies of your edited music directly to your home. I stay in contact with you for any questions or help. You can view my website at www.rockyourweddingandevents.com and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HCMBzeRsRM

We had friends do the instruction video from Rock Your Wedding and they both are not dancers by any means, however, they said the video was so personalized and the instructor was so nice and went through step by step for their routine. They recommended it and they also had quotes and that were so bazzar. So they said they were really happy that it was cheaper and they were able to practice when ever they wanted too and never had to leave the house. Matt and I are definately contacting Rock your wedding to do this.
