Choosing the right veil for your dress

Samantha, on October 31, 2017 at 4:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

I've seen tons of infographics and advice on choosing the right dress for your shape, etc. But I can't seem to find how to choose the right veil or your dress shape/style. Any advice? My dress is a flowy A-line with a lace over skirt and lace back (essence D1999) Originally I was taking cathedral length with lace so it will be longer than the train. But I was wondering if you've seen similar dresses with shorter veils that looked good. Not sure how I feel about the one pictured.

I have a similar shape and dress style, I'm doing a very simple finger tip length, because that's what I like best. Go with want you like the best with the dress

I'm personally fond of the fingertip veil. I think a cathedral one would get in the way too much, but they also look elegant. I think a general rule is, if you have a lot of detail on your dress, you should have a raw edge on your veil, bring most of the attention to your dress. Of your dress is very simple, some lace applique edging would do nicely. Mine has this beaded edging which isn't apparent at first, which is fine because there are a lot of lace details on my dress

I bought a whole bunch of extra matching lace to do a cathedral veil. But I think I'm leaning towards raw edge fingertip or waltz length.

I think for that dress I would go with cathedral even though I prefer a fingertip veil.

So here's a similar dress with the cathedral lace veil. This is what made me think of it in the first place.

I'm going to wear a cathedral length with scattered crystals with my lace dress. I love the look of longer veils though.

I first bought a lace fingertip lace edge veil but ended up loving the simplicity and elegance of a raw cut cathedral length veil.

I love cathedral veils! Have you considered a drop or mantilla veil? They are both less full and wouldn't hide as many details on your dress. In the end though, you need to make you happy- so my best advice is to go to the bridal salon and try lots of different veils on with your dress and see what you like.

I bought a fingertip length veil with beading and now I hate it. lol. From the front it goes perfectly with my dress, but from the back it cuts me off in a weird place and makes my butt look big. I'm going to try to exchange it for a simple cathedral length.

So, when it comes to your veil get what you want! Everyone wanted me to go simple and short with my veil, but I had my heart set on a particular style. And I got exactly what I wanted! My dress is all over lace with a chapel train, and my veil is an 18ft royal cathedral veil with beaded lace trim and a blusher (no lace or anything on the blusher, since my dress has beading where the blusher falls I thought that would be too much). I always knew I wanted a super long veil, so just go with what you want on this!
