Choose a seat not a side

Erin Wood, on September 6, 2016 at 4:59 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 39

What is a nice way to inform people that we do not expect them to sit on the "grooms side" "brides side"? I see a lot of cute little poems. I want it to be nice. Not necessarily cute.

A sign that says, "pick a seat, not a side. We're all family once the knot is tied"

Are you having ushers? You could have them direct guests to sit anywhere they wish.

They'll figure it out without the overused poems or signs. Every time I see one at a wedding I think "oh really? I had NO idea!" One of my biggest wedding pet peeves.

Since we are having some Star Wars touches, we will have a sign that says, "Sit or sit not. There are no sides. - Yoda". A play on his quote "Do or do not. There is no try."

I like " today two families become one. Please Pick a seat not a side. "

Have your ushers tell them. Keep it simple.

Similar to what others have said, have some groomsmen be ushers or have friends/family be ushers. We are also switching it up and I'll stand on the grooms side and FH on the brides side so family can see our faces. My wedding venue coordinator gave us the idea!

No signs and definitely no bad verse. Adults know how to sit down.

We only have 2 groomsmen and not a lot of family. I just don't want my family and friends to only sit on my side. I have a lot more people coming to the wedding. Don't want to be cheesy either!

You can have your GM act as ushers. Or just let people seat themselves.

We're doing the "Choose a seat, not a side. We're all family once the knot is tied" because I found the sign at Marshalls for $10 and idgaf

I hate those "pick a seat, not a side" signs. Have an usher or two who can tell the guests to sit wherever they choose.
