Cheesy to wear cute flip flops?

Is it cheesy to wear cute flip flops for the ceremony and wedding. I would rather be comfortable. Its an outside wedding. I do not want to be sinking in the ground while saying "I do"...

I totally agree with Laura K.! There will be no flip flops on my bridal party. I'll buy them the new clear heel inserts if they want them, but NO FLIP FLOPS at my formal wedding. This is coming from someone who almost never wears heels and lives in her Adidas gel flip flops, but only because I can. My place of employment doesn't require "appropriate" shoes, per se.

I love my trusty flip flops just like everybody else but i want my feet to be a smokin hot as the rest of me on my big day! Heels make you look taller and thinner and force you to carry yourself in a much more dignified fashion, and i don't know about anybody else but i wanna look like the belle of the ball at my wedding not like i'm running to the grocery store for some eggs!! LOL If other ppl wear flops to my wedding that's up to them but as for me and my bridesmaids,we will definitely be rockin some hotttt assss heels!! But i absolutely agree to do what's best for you, afterall,it is your day.

I am looking at different wedges since my wedding will be outdoors and I am worried about heels digging into the grass. They also make your shoes alot more comfy, all while obtaining the whole "heel" formal look. I say its your day do whatever you want..... but I wouldn't want to wear flip flops for my wedding. Here's a pic of an example:

No flip flops here--it doesn't seem appropriate for a wedding. Dressed up flip flops is a bit of an oxymoron to me--putting some fancy rims on a Chevy Malibu doesn't make it into a luxury car and putting rhinestones on flip flops doesn't make them formal shoes. At least two of my BMs have issues with high heels so they'll have on flats or a 1/2-1" heel. Mine will be tall and sexy red heels--yes they may come off at some point but only when I'm sitting somewhere that people can't see my feet--not while I'm out walking around or on the dance floor. I love flip flops but IMHO they are not appropriate for anything but the most casual beach wedding.

I wore heals for the ceremony, but changed to vans for the wedding, to match my groom and the guys. a few of my girls did this too. and i did this for a prom i went to, wore checkered slip ons with my black and white dress.

but because its YOUR day, you can get away with whatever you want. no matter what anyone else says.

at prom, i just didnt care. lol

I say if you feel comfortable in them, then go for it! Touch Ups actually offers a white satin flip flop.

I've been trying to find nice flats or super low heeled shoes for my wedding. My Fh is the same height as me and although his height doesn't bother him I don't want to look at my wedding pics and feel like I tower over him because of my shoes. Seems like a lot of the flats I see either look like flower girl shoes or my grandma's shoes. Some of the ones people posted here are cute tho! Thanks!

Im doing both. Im wearing heels down the "aisle"-we're getting married outside and it will be on a paved area, so no grass. But me and FI have like 8 inches or more between so I want to be a bit taller. Then, I found really cute flip flops at Payless-they're work appropriate dressy. And Im wearing those during the reception. My flip flops are colored but my ceremony shoes will be clear heels or white. I even got a pair of the flip flops in black to wear to work, so they are patent leather, shiny, but still really really comfy Smiley smile

For an outdoor wedding, flip flops are totally okay! I'm a photographer, and those heels can really be a nuisance when taking photos on the grass! There are so many cute flip flops out there with great details that make them look fancier. Plus wearing flip flops on the dance floor rather than going bare foot is classier.

To me it really depends on the flip-flop. The ones pictured above are fine IMO, but the rubber ones...mmm, not so much. I too was looking for comfort when it came to shoes. Plus I actually needed no heel because my FH is about 1/2 inch shorter than me and I really didn't want to tower over him that day. I was out shopping with my girls and I found these: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41+x2A-45NL._AA280_.jpg

They have them in ivory/champagne-like colors and match perfectly with my gown. Plus, all the guys are wearing Chuck Taylors so it kinda fits!

Just a thought - to the girls planning on wearing heels for the ceremony and then flats for the reception...remember to keep your hem in mind! If you're having your gown hemmed to a length appropriate for your heels, you may be tripping over it in flats.

Why not? its your wedding. ive heard of brides wearing hunting boots and crazy stuff like that. if its outside, that makes it even more ok to wear them. heels dont exactly work with grass and dirt. go for it!

I am in the minority. I think flip-flops are just not appropriate for a wedding. They look especially so out of place in formal weddings. However, if it's a casual or outdoor wedding, I guess they are ok. Would you wear a pair of flip flops to an interview, or to an event that you'd want to look your best and presentable in (I hope you answer no at least to the interview part)? On another hand, it IS your wedding and you can do whatever you want. I never like it when I see BMs and guests wore flip flops on the dance floor. They somehow ruin the elegance of the event, but then again, I think it's personal preference.
