Checks or Cash - Do you have a preference?

It's be worried about the checks too. I think it honestly depends on the bank you use. FH and I live together and for insurance checks from our renters insurance written to the both of us and Santander would not let us cash it without putting him on my bank account, so I doubt they would let us cash it before my name is changed. Would'nt hurt to ask your bank their policies on this, I'm sure they have one!

We received both, but a lot of the checks are made out to DH and Mrs. DH's Last Name.

This latter person does not exist, will never exist, and it means DH has to deposit them, because I cannot.

So... cash, unless you cover your bases and use only ONE name/check to make sure if anyone is changing their name.

I always prefer cash to checks.

For us, cash was way easier to put into our bank account. Not that checks weren't, but we had to sign them & one person didn't fill out the date so that one we had to send back to her since we couldn't cash it.
