Checking into the hotel

MrsGW2Be, on September 27, 2015 at 12:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

Anyone else not staying multiple nights at a hotel? We will spend the night before the wedding at home together and just spend the wedding night at the hotel. I'm trying to imagine standing in the check in line in my dress and it just seems awkward. Anyone else do this? How did you handle check in on your wedding night?

You know what? I haven't even thought about this... We aren't sure where we are staying yet for our wedding night.. However, we need to decide soon.

I am thinking I might just have to stay in line in my wedding dress - because we will all be busy since before "check-in" time until FH and I arrive at the hotel of our choice..

(We aren't sure if we are staying at the one of the ones we have blocked off for our guests... or if we are going to go to a different one)..

What would be awkward about it? You just got married, live it up!! Maybe you'll get a free room grade out of it. At lead a bunch of congratulations which are always fun.

Or you could always have a friend or family member take your dress home and change in to something else before you go to the hotel.

I checked in in my dress! Check in take all of 5 mins, people congratulate you, it's really not a big deal. We left a car there with suitcases earlier in the day which worked out perfectly

I'm not sure what the policy is where you're staying or when your wedding is, but some hotels will let you do early check-in. With some places, it can be as early as noon, especially if you mention it's your wedding night. That's what we're doing! Smiley smile

Yea....not really a big deal. Since it was around 11 there wasn't any line. Not like anybody will be like eww why is she so dressed up - it's pretty obvious why you are. Everyone we ran into was congratulatory and said how nice we looked

I'm with seattlebride, ask the hotel if you can check in early.

Depending on the hotel, you can check in early online and just grab your key. If it's a Hilton property I know that's true, just sign up for hhonors

I am staying at my hotel the night before the wedding so my FH will just be joining me after - and yes, I get to strut my sexy self through that lobby in my gown! I am looking forward to it! #lol

We did the same thing. We requested early check-in, and I had my FH check into the room when he arrived to get ready (we were getting ready in a conference room). If you are getting ready somewhere else or at home, request an early check-in and have your FH do it, or just check in late, after your wedding!

Request an early check in like others said but remember a request is only a request not a guarantee. Have a plan b just in case. I have worked hospitality for several years and there a lot of guests who's only plan is to check in early and they are ready upset when they can't. While we do everything on out power, sometimes it's out of our control.

I was thinking about early check in but we are having a morning wedding and he is going to have to start getting ready at 9am. So that would be pretty early! We may just check in with our wedding clothes on, seems like it's maybe not as big a deal as I thought. Even if I had a friend or family member check us in, they'd have to do it prior to 1030 in order to make it to the ceremony on time.
