Cheapest Place to Buy Alcohol

Summerfield Bride, on March 26, 2015 at 8:38 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

Thoughts? I was looking at Harris Teeter because they are running a promotion for 20% off wine by the case...and Total Wine offers 10% off case. I was wondering about Sam's and Costco, is that cheaper? What's everyone else doing!?

Costco and Sams Club sell at the state minimum pricing, and you don't have to have a membership to purchase

I'm checking out Costco this weekend. My other option is Binny's (Chicagoland area store) which will have name brands & regularly has sales.

Local liquor store. The owner gave me a 12% discount for giving him so much business plus free delivery.

I'm just amused because I live in PA where alcohol is only sold in special stores (with the exception of a select few grocery stores that have to go through hell to be allowed to do it) and the prices are mandated by the state. It seems weird to me to look for "cheap alcohol" since all the prices are the same here. Any other PA brides with me? Smiley laugh

@Beth-- I grew up in PA (Philly burbs, closer to the NJ border) but went to college in NJ and live there now. I always forget how ridiculous it is to buy alcohol in PA whenever I go home. Seriously-- no beer and wine in the same place?

VA is the same with ABC stores for liquor but price shopping wine/beer is totally doable (unlike PA I think).

I think Trader Joe's offers deals on wine cases as well, OP, if you have one near you. Black Box is also a good deal - the box is 4 bottles worth for usually around $20-30 I think.

Oregon is the same way - wine and beer in the grocery store, but liquor at state run liquor stores. Such a PITA.

I'm with you too, Beth! We might be making a trip to DE to get our alcohol!

Yea, I've been debating if Costco is better than Bevmo's 5 cent wine sales. Unsure which will give me more bang for my buck.
