Wedding paper divas is doing 40% off right now. Vista print has decent prices. Zazzle has some deal on groupon. There are a lot of options, just look around.

I did mine myself at Walmart.com and they only cost 50 dollars with envelopes. I also did one hour pick up which cost me a couple dollars more.

We did e-vites for save the dates. They turned out super cute and didn't cost anything.

Shutterfly is always running deals and have me 100 free 4x6 prints when I signed up. You can also check with your photographer. Save the dates came standard with our package.

Are you having a lot of out of town guests, a destination wedding, or a wedding on a day that requires most people to take a vacation day?

If the answer is "No", I'd skip the Save The Dates all together, or do the electronic ones.

Postcards through Vistaprint without a sale are $10 for 50. They run 40% sales frequently, so you can get them cheaper then that. The quality is the same as the regular STD cards.

Yes....I skipped the save the dates all together, and just did a verbal announcement. But e-vites would be the cheaper way out. If you really want something on paper, check out your local party store or craft store (Party city, Michael's, Hobby lobby). They have really nice blank invites in the wedding sections where you can use your own computer to make. Make sure to use a coupon, and you can have some really nice invites/save the dates for under $30.

I uploaded a design to vista print, picture postcard style. I think I paid maybe $20 for 50 of them.

There are a lot of DIY ones on etsy where you can download a design and print it yourself

I got mine on Etsy...was going to print myself but I was able to get them for $1 a piece printed, so I went with that. BUT they're not a necessity. If you're super strapped for cash, I'd eliminate them entirely unless you're having a destination wedding or inviting a lot of OOT guests. Keep in mind that sending an STD to someone locks in your guest list--you have to send an invite no matter what.

Honestly, I sent my guests Facebook messages and emails asking them for their address because I would like to send them a wedding invitation. Then I mentioned the date of the wedding in the message and told them to "save it". It wasn't tacky and I was able to get their address. It was free. Of course you're not going to do this when it comes time to send out actual invitations, but for save the dates I think it's totally fine. We got our invitations done at vistaprint btw and I wasn't disappointed at all.

We did our STDs at Walmart. We paid around $25 for them. But since you're on a tight budget you can skip STDs. It's not mandatory that you do them.

We used social print studio aka printsagram online.

$15 for first 24, $12 for each additional 24 printed. Smiley smile

Vistaprint is very inexpensive! You could also use an engagement picture or a picture you 2 really like, and print "announcements" as STDs from Walmart-- only a few cents each and they come with envelopes!

STDs will always be more expensive than you think. The real cost is not the paper or postage; it's the fact that once you send a STD, you have to invite the person--even if the relationship cools, you realize you'd prefer a smaller wedding, expenses are bigger than anticipated, etc. Your best bet is not to send them at all. Second best is to send them only to close family who lives out of town, because those are the only people likely to save up, alter vacation plans, etc. to be at your wedding.
