cheap ketubah

CT Bride, on January 11, 2012 at 1:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Does anybody know where I could get an economical ketubah (Jewish marriage contract)? We are fine with a very plain one, don't need any fancy artwork. Thank you.

No, definitely can't use online templates and print ourselves. it's supposed to use calligraphy and Hebrew language and be on nice parchment paper. I'm okay with spending SOME money on it, but the prices I've been seeing online seem excessive. will definitely check out etsy, thanks for the suggestion.

Check out eBay. Often, someone will buy the ketubot of a Jewish bookstore that is going out of business, and sell them on eBay for about $50 each. Obviously, they won't be personalized. But you can typically get them personalized by the original artist for a small fee.

Our ketubah artist has some minature ketubot for as little as $90 or $100.

If you are planning on framing your ketubah, don't forget the cost of the framing. Many ketubot won't fit into a standard frame size, so you have to get a custom frame, which can be expensive. Shop Ketubah has some ketubot that fit into standard size frames. Just click on the link on the left side of their main page that says, "Standard frame size ketubot." Another link allows you to see, "Ketubahs Under $100."

    Hope this helps!

We made ours, but we did all english text (except ani l'dodi at the top). i am pretty handy with photoshop so we chose our favorite engagement photo and i designed the text surrounding the photo.

if you decide to go this route - we printed it at www.canvaspress.com using their 'fine art paper' (a nice thick parchment good for signing) - it was only $35 or so. they are really quick and easy to use so i highly recommend them.

ETA - before we did this i asked our rabbi, and he told me there is no 'requirements' as to the type of paper - i had your same concerns.
