Charger plates at buffet reception?

I'm having a buffet reception and like you will be using gold chargers . Nothing wrong with that . Ours will look like this:

I could see guests trying to use them as their actual plate.

I agree I'd worry people would think they need to take it to the buffett as their plate.

Oh I am totally having gold chargers on my tables, and having a buffet. I love they way they look, they really complete a table setting. A small announcement of clean dinner plates are provided at the buffett table is all that needs to be said to mitigate the charger/plate confusion (for those who don't know lol).

I say go for it! This is one thing that FW said no to for our wedding. I wanted them but she felt like it was a waste of money. We are having a buffet also. I vote YES to chargers!

I'd be afraid people would up and walk with them to the buffet. If the amount of guests who don't know how to send in an RSVP or not to write in uninvited guests is any indication, I'm guessing most people aren't schooled in the finer points of dining etiquette or in Sandra Lee-esque tablescapes.

I'm having gold chargers and a buffet. I don't think guest taking the chargers with them to the buffet will be the end of the world and they will probably realize the plates are there to use.

Funny story. My friend did this at her wedding and one person brought theirs up with them. It set off a chain reaction of people leaving the buffet line to go grab their chargers. I was cracking up, but then started questioning it myself and started to head back to the table. Just about that time the dj made an announcement not to bring your chargers. By this point there were probably 30 people eating right off the chargers.

So in retrospect it was that people really didn't know. People do what they see others doing. Have your dj make an announcement promptly if you see anyone bringing theirs. Maybe have someone as a lookout for this to give him a signal.

I’m also having a buffet (brunch) we bought charger plates! They definitely complete the look.

They look nice! I like it.

I don’t this there’s anything wrong with that at all. I’m sure people will realize it by the time they get to the buffet line or someone will tell them.


Can I ask where you bought it from? I’m looking for mine and it’s all so expensive I need to buy a bulk.

I think it will be beautiful, do what you like, designers came up with what they thought was appropriate, you have likes and dislikes also, a lot of designer ideas aren't all pretty either. Do what you like
