Hey beauties,

We have decided to cancel our wedding reception and do the ceremony just the two of us (plus the officiant, photographer, and possibly a videographer) on the planned date.

How on earth do I word this announcement? We're getting married, but just not celebrating with anyone quite yet.
Thankfully I didn't send the invites, just the Save the Dates, so I have the envelopes and stamps ready to go, I just need a new 5 x 7 announcement.

We basically want to have a 1-year anniversary bash next year (I kept the DJ and he is available lol), but it's not all pinned down detail-wise.

If you’re sure you’re going to host a celebration next year and youre sure of when:

“Change the date!
Due to the unforeseen circumstances from covid-19, we will be having a private ceremony on (original date), and have decided to postpone our wedding celebration.
While we are disappointed we will not get to celebrate with our loved ones right away, we hope you will be able to join us on (new date) where we look forward to renewing our vows surrounded by family and friends!”

If you’re not sure about the other celebration then I’d just take out the part about that. Or if you are going to have it for sure but aren’t 100% committed to a new date, say “.... have decided to postpone our wedding celebration to a later date. We will keep you informed with the details of our celebration.”
