Champagne Toast - Who is supposed to give the toast?

MrsVN, on March 2, 2015 at 7:56 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

We are planning to have a champagne toast at a wedding but I know nothing about them. I've been to a wedding where immediate family and the entire bridal party said a toast but that seems too long for all the other guests to sit through. Who usually gives the toast? Can you have multiple people say a few words? If so, who are the top choices for saying a toast?

We are having the Maid of honor and the Best man give a toast. I told them it doesn't have to be anything extensive. Short and simple. I don't think people like to sit through a ton of speeches but in the end whatever you decide should be fine!

Traditionally the best man gives a speech, and a lot of times the MOH does as well. I would also consider if any of the parents, or you or your FH, want to say a short something. But I wouldn't do more than 3 or 4 speeches at most. I agree people might start getting bored if they go on too long lol.

Thank you for the advice! I think we will stick to 3 tops.

I'm from the UK and traditionally we have the FoB, the groom and the Best man give speeches/toasts.
