Champagne toast right after the ceremony...tacky or not?

Why would you do it that way? It's not a logical place for it, IMO.

I think it would be too confusing, and getting glasses to everyone would be a hassle.

On a serious note, it could quite possibly be a little difficult logistically. Unless you hand them out before hand. I mean, people sometimes have water stations before the ceremony, I don't see why champagne wouldn't be the same. Just make sure you have the ushers and/or officiant remind people that it is for a toast and to not drink it right away.

Uhhhh maybe on a line of "why are we doing this now?". I've never heard of toasting right after 'you may kiss the bride'. I would probably wait to after you both walk back down the aisle... unless you want very unique pictures as everyone is holding glasses in the background during the recessional.

My friend did that for her wedding actually. They handed out the flutes as guests were being seated and i feel like people were sipping the champagne during the ceremony (which was brief) but i personally didnt like it. I would say do it when you walk in after your announcement by DJ/MC

I read about it and thought 'ooo, maybe' because it is unique, but then I thought 'nah' so I thought I'd crowd source it-- Maggie, thanks for letting me know how it played out at another wedding. I'm going to have refreshment bins with sparkling water, old school Coke and Dr. Pepper glass bottles and beer (haven't decided what kind), so that should keep people hydrated xx

I like it. I've done it. Waiters hand out the champagne as people come in, and let them know there will be a toast. I usually do it BEFORE the kiss, because a walk down the aisle is expected after that.

What about right after the ceremony but in the reception space? Hand everyone a glass as they leave and then gather everyone and toast?

Please consider changing your avatar & screen name from the generic/anonymous ones that WW provides to something that uniquely identifies you. You can't change your avatar from the app you can change it from either your mobile browser (while viewing the full site) or from your desktop computer.

To do this:

- Click your name on the top right of your screen and click on "My Settings"

- Click 'Profile and Privacy Settings'

- Below 'Account Image' on the left, hover your mouse over the avatar and click 'Change Image'

- Select an image from your Photo Album, your Avatars, or Upload from your computer & click 'Update Image

It has been done at some of my small, casual beach weddings. I think it depends on your ceremony location (in a church probably would not go over well) and the number of guests.
