Champagne & Ivory wedding dress... what color grooms shirt?

Kimberly, on September 25, 2020 at 4:29 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 13
My dress has a champagne bodice with an ivory tulle skirt. We just got FH’s suit and he choose a charcoal suit. Is a white shirt ok for him to wear with a tie matching the bridal party’s dresses?

I honestly am not for the white with ivory because I feel like your dress with just look off next to it. I have an ivory dress and my groom and groomsmen are all weary grey suits with ivory shirts. I never even considered white.

My dress is ivory, although I don't think it looks completely ivory. But our suit place said there are ivory colored shirts, or white with texture so it isn't completely stark against your dress and clash.

My dress was ivory and my husband wore an ivory shirt. White next to my dress made it look dirty/yellowed. If your dress has ivory in it I would recommend having your FH wear an ivory shirt to match.

I have ivory and silver on my dress. My groom is going to wear a white shirt and an ivory tie to match me, while the groomsmen wear petal pink ties to match the bridesmaids.
I've seen some group pictures where you can't tell which one is the groom. I would keep that in consideration when you guys make your decision.

My dress is also champagne and ivory. All the guys are wearing white shirts. The ivory shirts looked very dingy where we rented the tuxes from

This is my dress. It’s very close to white, you almost can’t tell it isn’t except for the bodice is clearly champagne.

What if we did a blush colored shirt for FH and his best man? It will only be him and his best man/son and we are most likely going to have BM wear a vest versus a jacket. Shirt and ties would be the same.

    That’s what I’m worried about.

Daughter's dress was ivory over a pale gold lining (it didn't look "gold" -- just soft and "glowy"). SIL wore a white shirt with a dark gray suit (and a dark green tie). Even in the photos with his jacket unbuttoned or off, it looked fine together (see cropped photo from cake cutting). I've read that "ivory" shirts can look very yellow, so I'd be sure to compare the actual shirt to your dress to make sure you like it if you go that route.

My dress is ivory over light gold and we're going with ivory shirts (FH will be wearing a charcoal tux, groomsmen will be in lighter grey suits). I'm really hoping it looks ok!

Oh yeah you can’t really tell a difference between the colors. FH has a white suit shirt he bought for a wedding he was in last year so I’ll get it out and hold it up to my dress to make sure they don’t clash. But I’m worried about an ivory just not looking quite right for the shirt.

Oh man this has never even crossed my mind. I will definitely have to keep this in mind when picking out his tux/suit. Adding to the list!

My dress and veil were Ivory and my husband wore an Ivory shirt. We went to a bridal show where one of the vendors showed a bride in her Ivory dress and groom with a bright white shirt on. They told us to be conscious of that so ever since then we started looking for either off white or Ivory shirts for him and the groomsmen. Surprisingly, it's hard to find an "Ivory" shirt for men. So, you might want to buy swatches of the Ivory that matches your dress and bring them to his fittings. Or you could bring your veil if it matches your dress color. That's what I did.
