Ceremony: what is your format?-how to say "I do" while still writing your own vows?

Clara, on April 29, 2014 at 2:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

I am meeting with my officiant today to set up the ceremony. While I know she will have many ideas I'm trying to get together a general idea of what I want.

So my question is what is your format?

Things I'd like to include are: lighting of taper candles by mothers and lighting of unity candle by us, saying our own vows AND being asked "do you take this man blah blah blah" I want to say I DO but also say my own vows.

This is the format I'm thinking:

Opening

Vows-writing our own

I Do’s

Unity Candle

Exchange of rings

Closing

I'm not sure if I really like this order..what are you doing, or what do you suggest?

    Declaration of intent

Our hand written vows to each other

    The regular old vows

    Unity ceremony

    Exchange or rings

    Reading #2

I can email you my ceremony if you'd like! We did our own vows and we are saying I do

"I do" is in response to the Question of Intent (which comes before vows).
