Ana, on August 22, 2019 at 2:46 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 13
Ok I have 9 days to go. My invitations say 3pm ceremony. What time should I expect people to be there?

If you are talking about guests, I would say around 2:30 pm they would start getting there.

Personally if you put 3pm, I would expect people to be there by 3:30pm and even then people will still be filtering in. There's always people who are early and right on time, but I've been advised by several planners to start 30 minutes after you said you would.

We typically show up 15 minutes or so before the start time.

I think this depends on your area - where I live, being 10 minutes early to a wedding is being late. We're doing all our photos at the venue before the ceremony, and our photographer recommended being done and hidden away an hour before just in case people come super early. I think 30 minutes early is a pretty standard time to arrive.

I usually see guests arrive about 15-20 minutes before the ceremony is scheduled to begin. There will almost always be that last guest and you may need a few minutes so I always tell couples to expect to start 10-15 minutes after the scheduled ceremony time. In all the weddings I have done only 1 started exactly on time.

I aimed for my ceremony set up to finish by 445p for a 5p start time but I knew we wouldn't actually start til 510p so people can take their seats and get situated

Our ceremony is at 5:30 and cocktail hour starts at 6p. we have a pretty short ceremony so it'll be ok if we start late, however, I'd rather start precisely at 5:30!

I’d expect people around 2:45-3:30. We have a coordinator for the wedding day, and on her schedule list, she wrote “time on invitation” and “time of ceremony” which was 30 mins later. If you can, I would plan on some stragglers and start a bit after that. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a wedding that starts exactly on time.
