Ceremony Start Time Disagreement. Help!

He Put A Ring On It 2019, on May 20, 2019 at 7:41 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 14
So my wedding is September 21st in Wichita,KS. Me and my mother are having a disagreement on the ceremony time. I think we should start around 5 or 5:30 and she thinks we need to start around 3, 3:30 or 4. I feel like that's too early.
Sundown is usually around 7:30 in September. We have the Venue til 12 a.m (or even later if we wanted). Venue and ceremony are at the same place. Some pics will be taken at a park about 5 min away.
Any advice or suggestions?

I would speak with your fiance about this. This should be a decision the two of you make rather than you and your mother.

Maybe choose when you'd like dinner to be served and then work a schedule around that.

This is yours and you Fiancé wedding, so I think above all the two of you need to agree if you want an afternoon or evening wedding. However, be sure to be respectful to your mom, no matter what you decide. Especially, if she’s assisting with the cost of the wedding.

If that is the case then I would speak with the officiant to see what he or she recommends.

I would go with 5pm. You have your venue for a very long time. You don't want a large gap between the ceremony and reception for your guests to have to figure out how to kill time.

Mainly I would be consulting the photographer for the most ideal time, for natural light purposes.... at the end of the day it’s your day. Don’t set a time you’re not happy with.

After talking with my vendors I think I've decided on 4:30. Thank you all for your input 😊.

We'll be having a cocktail hour. Plus our venue is an arcade (the venue is just in a separate building), so we figure there will be people who will go play a couple games haha.
I'm hoping to get some unique pics in the arcade.

I think if you want to do 5-5:30 then do it! My ceremony started at 5:30 and it was perfect. We had time throughout the day to get ready and enjoy it, and without having to do a real early call time to start hair and makeup.

This. Exactly. Our families eat earlier (and we have several diabetic family members) so we made sure cocktail hour with food started by 5 and dinner by 6ish. That’s why for a 30-min ceremony we started our wedding at 4 pm.
