Ceremony Songs

Jess, on October 29, 2016 at 10:38 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

So we been thinking a lot about our songs lately and really want it planned out well. Are any of you other brides doing this and making a list for your DJ on the music to be played at the Ceremony? Below is what we are thinking so far...but we still need an exit song as FH and I walk down the aisle past the guest please let me know if you have any ideas for that. Or what you think of the songs we picked so far. I would also love you to Copy and paste what i did below and fill in what you are using if you want to share!

Incoming music for guests to be seated: Arrival of the Queen of Sheba- Handel, String music and classical music ?

Procession of Bridal Party: A Thousand Years- Christina Perri?

Bride walking down isle: Johann Pachelbel - Canon in D Major? (Feel like it might be over played)

Bride ,Groom & Bridal party leaving: *thinking a fun and upbeat but sweet song*

If you want other classical songs to walk in to, check out Vitamin String Orchestra's youtube channel, and the songs here (just YouTube the composer and song title to sample the song):

    http://www.sosquartet.com/index.php?key=wedguide

    and for non-classical:

I'm a big classical fan. My string trio is playing these songs for the various parties in the procession:

Beatles, All You Need is Love

    Mouret, Rondeau

    Purcell, Trumpet Tune

And I enter to Charpentier, Te Deum. My runner-up was Handel, Entrance of the Queen of Sheba (because omg, that title! And it's fast-paced and bright.)

We exit to Handel, Rejouissance (from Fireworks music). Another option we considered is Hall & Oates, You Make My Dreams Come True or Queen, You're My Best Friend.

If you've got a good DJ, they'll have suggestions for you.

As much as I loved 1000 years the first 500 times I heard it, it's kinda getting there.....

The one I hear the most often for processionals now is 'I can't help falling in love with you'.

Honestly, almost anything you like can be a processional song if you can walk to it.

Our recessional is 'Stuck on you" by Meiko

"I must confess, when I wear this dress

I feel like dancing the whole night with you

And when I do, doo doo doo doo doo

I feel so happy, I'm stuck on you

'Cause you are the one I could see having fun with

Not just for the night, but for the rest of my life

You are the one I could never be done with

I want you tonight and for the rest of my life"

    eta- spelling is hard

Canon in D is very popular, but it's such a beautiful song. Definitely go with that one!

I love your choices. I would like to suggest the song we used when we were walking back down the isle.

Bridal party: A Thousand years by the Piano guys

bride: Love me like you do Abby Road Performance

bride and groom leaving: Starting at the chorus of the original Love me like you do by Ellie Goulding starting at 1:58 of the song.

    Edited to add the video.

Yes. Totally normal to have a list for the DJ. We played Disney music for the pre ceremony then a little snippet of the walking dead theme just before a thousand years by Piano Guys played for the groom, best man, and entire party. Then the song changed to Better Place by Rachel Platten for my walk. It was perfect!

My bridal party processional was A Thousand Years but by the Piano Guys. They do a great instrumental version of it!

I walked down to Cannon in D. I don't think it's over played. It's beautiful!

We had exit songs but the DJs cords got wet so hid music couldn't be played. Our guitarist played instead.

As a musician, one fun tune I've been asked to play for the recessional recently was "Best Day of My Life" by American Authors. Another suggestion is "Beautiful Day" by U2.
