Ceremony site decor

Jessica, on July 21, 2020 at 11:10 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 15
I’ve had so many ideas for ceremony decor (thanks Pinterest), but I’m starting to feel like I’m over thinking and we should just keep it simple. We don’t have much room in the budget for ceremony decor, and we are traveling 2-3 hours up into the mountains for our wedding so FH (understandably) doesn’t want to be hauling a bunch of stuff. I also don’t want to obscure the amazing view. Here’s the site:
Ceremony site decor 1
I was initially thinking about a triangle arch or hexagon arch, and suggested building it out of pipe so we could haul it in pieces and assemble on site, but FH wasn’t crazy about that idea. I have also looked at simple trellises because I’ve been wanting to get one for our garden anyways, but my next dilemma was that the guys will be setting up the site so they will have to execute whatever decor I decide on.
My other thoughts were big candles and lanterns (which add up fast $$&dollarSmiley winking, or two large planters or floor vases that we can use in our house afterwards, but I haven’t found anything I really like. My mom suggested intertwining branches to form an arch, but I’m guessing that will add up too and we’d still need something to support them.Would you bother decorating at all, or just set up the chairs/benches to designate the aisle and altar area? Any other suggestions? We are also getting married at sunrise and this is facing west, so the sun will come up behind us and light up the peaks.

A lot of people have just been doing things on the floor to create a focal point. So something like this would be so inexpensive and easy to carry around:

You don’t have to have that many candles aha but you can lay down candles in a half circle around you or so, you don’t have to have the containers either like just the candles would be enough

With such a gorgeous backdrop, I don't know that I would bother with decorations at all!

That is such a pretty ceremony site!! Love the view. I agree that you probably don't need a lot of decorations. I also agree with Melle - you could put a decorative rug or something on the ground? Lanterns or candles would be pretty!

I like the idea of a half circle of candles, thanks! I have candles all over my house, but I keep thinking I need bigger pillars. Maybe I’ll set up some candles and stuff in my backyard and play around.

Thank you! That’s what FH says too, I just had in my head we should designate the altar somehow.

Thank you! I did look at some rugs, the one I liked my mom said was garish lol. If I collect all the candles I already own and find a couple bigger pillars maybe that will be good.

Gorgeous venue! You really don't need anything beyond chairs.

I would do some kind of arch with florals instead of something on the floor. Then flower petals on the sides of the aisle to designate it.

WOW!! That's a very beautiful ceremony site!! You could do the chairs then having flower petals designating the aisle (and they are biodegradable) or maybe like what Melle said about candles in a circle around you guys? Or the arch. I think one of those things to keep it simple will work! You honestly could just put chairs out there and it would be good!

I’m leaning towards just chairs/benches and maybe some flowers along the sides of the aisle, but I do really like the idea of candles around us- assuming it’s not too windy. Thank you!

That’s where I started, but between the cost of renting and hassle of hauling it I don’t think it’s worth it. I do think it would look stunning, maybe if my budget was bigger. Thanks.

Thank you! I’m totally overthinking, so many details and so little time left.

A friend of mine got married in a field and purchased one of those affordable aluminum arches and added chiffon in their colors. She mostly did this to crate a focal point for guests before the ceremony and it was absolutely fine.

I say do something minimal like that and let the background do the talking for you. Good luck! Smiley heart

You have an amazing backdrop and you and your FH should be the focal point so I would say less is more.

When it comes to decor, it’s better to spend more on the celebration decor because that’s where your guests will be spending the most time.
