Ceremony & reception at the same place? How long?

Same location, 4-10p

Ours is 1130am ceremony, cocktail hour to start immediately following and go until 1pm, then 1-5pm reception.

I'm assuming yours is 430-5ish ceremony, 5-6 cocktail and 6-10:30 reception? A 4 hour reception is pretty standard where I'm getting married, I've never been to a longer one and think it would be too much. I doubt a majority of people would leave before 10:30 or even 11pm though for a friday night wedding.

We are doing ours that way: starts at 10 am, ends at 1 pm followed by a big party in the evening

We were just at a wedding that was in the same place. Ceremony started at 4 and we left around 9.

Ceremony starts at 6 and the reception ends at 1. I'm sure a lot of people will leave earlier than that, but the people who want to dance the night away will be able to.

Mine are at the same place. I'm hoping my ceremony will last 20 minutes tops, I want a quick fix! The reception will take forever

Almost all the weddings I've been to took place at the same location. I've only been to 2 church weddings and they of course had separate reception locations.

My ceremony is 30 minutes. Cocktail hour and then 5 hour reception. 6 1/2 hours total. Most church weddings are an hour and then have a cocktail hour and 4-5 hour reception. Unless the reception is far away from the ceremony which is always in poor taste.

Ours is all in one venue - outside in the garden ceremony, into a beautiful brick room overlooking the garden for cocktails and then into the ball room for dinner/dancing.

We are doing 5:30 - 6pm ceremony

6-7pm Cocktail hour

7-11pm Dinner/Dancing/Fun

Talk to any of the venues you visit. Almost all of the venues we vist had a specified amount of time offered and if you wanted to add time on it was an additional price per hour and/or an additional amount for the ceremony.

We're rolling with the 5 hour event we received from the package we purchsed at our venue but we did pay the additional amount to have the ceremony onsite.

Do your research so you know whats included!

My is same place ceremony 530 reception ends at 11pm

Mine is all at the same place. Starting at 230? Ending at 8. (Sunday wedding and school is still in session for the kids) I've also gone to a few weddings where everything took place in same location normally last 5 hours or longer

Ours will be at the same place, from 6p-10:30p. I'm thinking of maybe adding one hour and doing 5:30p-11p, but not sure.

However that is typical where I live. Never heard of a wedding ending sooner before coming here.

Hospitality hour will start @ 530 but not really expecting anyone to show up til about 6, 615, ceremony is at 630 reception will end at midnight.

Ours is at the same place also. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 cocktail hour will start at 6 and the reception will last til 11:30 but the venue said if it last til 12:30 there will be no charge!!
