Ceremony musicians

Kristal, on October 2, 2019 at 3:56 PM Posted in Texas Planning 0 5

I have been trying to convince myself that a wireless speaker set up with a playlist would be all that I need for my ceremony (have my officiants wife to change songs). I even picked out my music and my FH has the tablet that he plans to load them on. however, it just doesnt suit the 'old ways' celtic style that I am going for and now that I have the big picture and most of the details squared away, its bugging me a little more.

I have a friend who plays guitar. he used to be the front guy in a rock band but has more or less retired to settle down with the wife who is simply awesome. They are dear friends and would probably do it for free if I asked but I don't want to expect that. What would be a good price to offer him if I do end up asking him to do it? (would be 4-5 songs)

I'm in north austin area if that matters.

I would think offering $100 - $150 would be very generous. I’m having a mariachi group playing during dinner and they're $150. We’re outside of San Antonio.

    Hey there, Kristal!

As he used to play in a band and has experience working with paying gigs, I’m sure you could agree on a price together. When you ask him, you could say that you’re only happy to have him if he will accept payment and discuss a price together then Smiley smile

Alternatively, you could reach out to a local musician to get a quote for your wedding ceremony music and use this as the basis for how much to offer him!

Thank you! I think i'll start at $100 and see what he says. local musicians i've contemplated are super picky in their song selections and seem to be unwilling to learn a few of my songs but i know he'll be fine with them.
