Ceremony Musician

We’re having a local singer-guitarist play for 1.5hrs at our ceremony. This is her 1st wedding although she has a band and plays every weekend at other gigs. She wants to do this type of thing more often she’s said. When I inquired on a price she said “whatever you want to pay me”. What’s an average for this type of thing?

I think prices have been about $300 (per musician) for a 4 hour period. You might propose $200.

I agree that $200-$300 sounds fair.

Thanks for responding back. Partly they have to get paid enough to offset whatever else they might do on the weekend.

Our church organist, who not only sings and plays, but also advises about the music and the liturgy, is paid $300. She also gets the church ready for the ceremony/Nuptial Mass by turning on the lights, heat or a/c, lights the candles and arranges the books the priest will use, because we have no sacristan at the moment.
