Ceremony harpist

Bridget, on August 5, 2019 at 3:25 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
So a friend of mine plays the harp professionally. I asked her if she would be my ceremony musician. She will also play prior to the ceremony as people are being seated.
When I talked price she told me no this is my gift to you. I know that her price would be way more than a normal gift. We are inviting her and her husband to the reception. I need to give her something as this is her career- I’m getting married at a busy wedding time I hope she didn’t turn down a gig for me. She’s also setting up a special recessional that she thought of for me of a Bon Jovi song - which I use as my FH’s ringtone.
I can’t find out though what would be the cost of a harpist at a ceremony. I live near Philadelphia in New Jersey.

I'm in Northern California and $200 per hour would be the average price here for a musician. I hired a string duo for my ceremony and paid a flat rate of $600 which included my rehearsal (only 1 of them needed to come to work with the church's pianist), work on my special requests, and the 1-hour ceremony.

About $200 is normal, but it could be anywhere from $150-400.

This is such a special gift from your friend Bridget!

I love that someone close to you will be playing the music for your ceremony, and the harp is such a beautiful instrument!

Hi there Bridget! Perhaps you could reach out to a local harpist, explain the situation (you don't want to lead them on and let them think you may book them!) and ask if they would recommend a price you should give your friend.
