Ceremony Fabric

Mrs. L., on May 11, 2013 at 3:09 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 5

I need to purchase fabric for the pergola, and the aisle as you can see in the pictures below.

For the pergola (wedding arch) I am going to do white fabric (not see through), with a see through turquoise over it. This is similar to the picture below, but I would like the white not to be see through.

For the aisle, I will use just turquoise, and it will be the same material as in the pergola.

What material would work best for the pergola and aisle? I anticipate the white and the turquoise will be different materials since one will be see-through and the other won't be.

What material have others used to decorate their ceremony?

Also, any suggestions on where I can get this material for cheap?

For the turquoise on the pergola and aisle garlands, you could use tulle, and maybe a light chiffon or organza (less see-through than tulle and also more expensive, but may have a better color match). If you also wanted to do an aisle runner, I wouldn't use either of these materials b/c the sand would just go through and it wold get married.

For the white, you could probably use a light cotton-blend or a heavier chiffon. Silk or taffeta would also work, but they will be much more expensive and also have sheen.

I always get my fabric from www.fabric.com. They have good deals and also quick delivery.

@Barbara we aren't going to do an aisle runner. But for the pergola you suggest the turquoise be chiffon, and the white..tulle or cotton?

Tulle would be the most sheer and probably best for the turquoise part. A light chiffon would be an alternative if you can't find a good color match in tulle.

For the white, definitely not tulle--- that will be too sheer. Cotton would probably work best, but a heavier chiffon would be airier but still hopefully be solid/not sheer.

Wherever you get it from, it would probably be a good idea to order some swatches before placing the full order. Most places will usually send these for a couple of dollars each, and it will be worth it in the long run to be sure you are getting what you imagined.
