Ceremony decoration advice

Hi everyone !
We are having our wedding on July 7th at a Marriott hotel. The hotel just informed us that the backdrop for the ceremony and the stage will be black. We have the option to change the color of the back drop, but they do not provide that. We also have the option to not use the stage. I’ve been calling places to see the cost of renting a color backdrop with drapes because I do not want a black background in our pictures. I’ve been quoted for more than 800.00 for the drapes, lighting and isle runner. That’s a lot for us, and being that it is so close to the wedding date, that will be hard. I’ve been looking on Etsy and amazon, but I am not sure what to look for. What did you all do for your ceremony backdrop and isle runner? Thank you!!

Could you rent something like an arch, and just put your own fabric & flowers on the arch? And have maybe a flower decoration one either side of the arch?

What you are looking for in the industry is called pipe and drape. I would look into event rental companies. It's not something you can really DIY since it is probably a large space, I'm picturing 10+ foot ceilings and a span across of maybe 15-20 feet or more.

Some people take photo backdrops like from an open air photobooth or something and use that as their ceremony backdrop. those are surprisingly not that expensive. or you can even do something super informal but pretty like garland or banners or streamers hanging down. i've even seen something like a runner being used as the backdrop:

or something i think that's funky but cool is if you had a bunch of different vintage looking frames just hung on a wall in the back. or balloons! my cousin actually had a balloon arch at hers.

i love the idea futuremrsd referenced about an arch and putting your own florals on it too.
