Ceremony decor - looking for alternatives

L&G, on June 8, 2015 at 9:32 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

My FH has informed me that the wedding arch/arbour that I wanted is too large to transport and we can't have it permanently installed at our venue. Is anyone not having an arch that can show me ideas? Or have you seen anything on your internet searches that you liked? Our decor is rustic and our wedding is on a golf course

Does the golf course not have an arch you can decorate? Or a tree you can stand under?

One alternative our venue provided was large potted flowers to create an alter

We found our arch on craigslist. A couple had made it for their daughter. They went to a salvage yard and found an old archway from a house that was torn down and on each side put hinges and added old wooden doors. They painted and sanded it so that it looks rustic. It's also easier to transport because we can just unhinge the doors and put them together at the venue. On the doors there are hooks so we can hang flowers or wreaths to decorate them a bit more.

You could use curly willow branches and curve them toward the top to form an arch.

We are going super simple, honestly. We will have two cocktail tables with vases of flowers on either side of us to mark the alter. I am also hoping to find a large palm frond to hang on the deck in front of where we will stand.

You can have an "arch" on the ground. Play with the heights of your flowers. I think this looks great with a rustic wedding. This thing isn't letting me upload the picture I'm talking about but, go to Pinterest and search Carmel Valley ranch inspiration.

Here are two things i was thinking of doing at one point.

eta: these are for the fall but i bet you could find potted flowers for the summer time.
