Ceremony and Reception at same location, is there still a grand entrance??

Mrs Lilow, on February 6, 2011 at 1:07 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

So we're getting married the courtyard, where we will also have cocktail and apps while WP takes pics etc, however I'm hoping we will still have time to enjoy part of the cocktail hour with our guests. Then we head inside and upstairs for dinner and reception..isn't it a bit silly to have a grand entrance when we would have just seen them downstairs 10 minutes before?

No, it's not silly b/c it is the first time you will be announced / introduced as Mr. & Mrs.

You can do whatever you want. We didn't have a grand entrance, even though our reception was three days after our wedding in a different city. However, if you want one, there is no harm in it. After all, at any reception, most of the guests will have seen the couple earlier in the day.

We did the same thing and we had a grand entrance. It was the first time we were introduced as Mr. and Mrs.

I've seen it done. Reason being is that not everyone who is at the reception will be able to make the ceremony. What YOU choose to do is up to you, and I don't think you'll be wrong either way.

Our ceremony and reception is going to be in the same room however after the ceremony we will exit and let the guest enjoy cocktail "hour" (really like 30min) and then we will make a grand entrance!!

I think it is a little weird to have a big introduction to the reception if you are already at the reception. Why not just do the intro when you arrive at cocktail hour? Or you could stay for the first part of cocktail hour, leave for pics and make your big entrance to the reception upstairs.

Traditionally, after your wedding you head out away from your guests to take some pictures while your guests head out to a cocktail hour. The main purpose of the cocktail hour is to give your guests something to do while you're off taking pictures.

So, when you come back from your pictures, you typically make your grand entrance, after which you have different deviations. You can go right into a meal, continue your cocktail hour and/or do your first dance and toast.

It's not weird at all, it all depends how you "spin" it.
