Centerpieces, Smenterpieces...

Future Mrs. T, on January 19, 2018 at 11:49 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 41

Anyone else just NOT CARE at all about centerpieces? Like I don't want to spend any more money on something that ill just have to sell right after. Thinking about just spray painting random decorations I have gold, adding some votives and some greenery and calling it a day.

I'm like eh when it comes to them but I did find a place that does beautiful centerpieces for 65 a table and in my opinion, I can't beat that at all. But I know no one will remember or care about what was sitting in the middle of the table lol.

Same! I don't want flowers as my centerpieces but I can't find anything that I really love. I've checked all the different search terms on Pinterest that I can think of. Can I just not have them? Haha

This is why we're using hard-back books from our book shelf to use along with some flowers.

I'm doing a picture of us at various places we've traveled and a vase representing that location (ex New Orleans will be filled with beads and have a mask sticking out, Seattle will be filled with coffee beans and have a space needle sticking out). It's cost a little more then I wanted, but it's been fun collecting trinkets from places we visit. Maybe I'll place some around the house afterwards, maybe not. But it's more fun then flowers.

I think the only time I ever remember anyone commenting on a center piece is when it was too obstructive and got in the way of seeing stuff going on or engaging with others at the table. if you aren't all about the center pieces then don't stress yourself about it. if gold decorations match your colors/theme, go for it! my hopeful venue includes the center pieces with the package so that's one thing I don't have to really concern myself with if we definitely book there.

We are lucky that my FFIL is a wood worker and will be doing some votives for us. My sister is helping with the few flowers we will have with them. She has boxes full of vases. I want things to be super simple and laid back cuz that is who we are as a couple. I get where you are coming from. Centerpieces were just a small add in my book. Our venue has white lights and ivy that stays up year-round in the dining area so were don't need much more than that.

We just used our BM bouquets on a few tables and then some little succulents on the rest, tarted up with LED candles. guests took the succulents home at the end of the night.

I don't really care too much about the centerpieces, but I wanted live flowers because I just don't like the look of fake flowers. And I've been trying to avoid DIY because I don't want myself or my family to be responsible for setting/cleaning up a bunch of random stuff, or having to try and sell a bunch of random stuff after the wedding. I found a florist who is charging me $60/centerpiece including the container so guests can take them home. I might keep one so I can hang on to the compote bowl for my dining room table. Any left over arrangements I'm going to donate to the local hospital & call it a day.

I'm doing Dollar Tree centerpieces and hoping to keep the cost for all to about 50 dollars for ten tables! They aren't something I'm willing to spend limited money on and I was thrilled when I realized I could fill $1 vases with water those glass bead things and fake flowers and it would look plenty fancy! Maybe I'll buy some cheap fake petals to put around them. Done and done.

I think centerpieces help to differentiate the decor from any business banquet. If you can't be bothered doing something nice, I would't do anything at all.

It's pretty simple to put a $10 orchid from Lowes, Ikea or Home depot into a pot and call it a day.

Centerpieces are at the very bottom of my list of things I care about. Our venue has black lanterns we can use and we are adding votives and greenery to them.

What ever you do give the centerpiece to the couple that has been together the longest at the table... that way you don't have to deal with them afterwards!

Why not floral arrangements from a florist? There's no law that says everyone must DIY everything, and then there's nothing to sell afterwards.

Nope - did not care about them. Our reception was in the event room of our favorite restaurant. The room was beautiful on it's own. One less thing to pay for, manage and deal with. Same reason I had no bridesmaids....lol!

We don't all have the budget for that.

I agree. Luckily my venue provides them free of charge. I know most people who create their own DIY dollar store centerpieces. Some people sell their wedding centerpieces on Ebay and Facebook for very cheap after their weddings. But I do agree with centerpieces being a waste of money.

You'd be surprised at how inexpensive they can be, especially when you factor in the sweat equity required to make everything yourself.

I honestly keep tossing different ideas in my head.... and then at the end of the day I think about what people will really remember and what really matters.... and I honestly think about how much I don't care about the center pieces and how much my family wont care about the center pieces. Our wedding is a destination wedding. I don't think I am going to waste my time and money on it. I don't feel like shipping anything out there... or buying anything while there and than giving it away and making someone worry about flying it back home.... just not worth the head ache for us. I had thought about cameras and candy and everything... I just don't think any of it will work out....
