Centerpiece ideas help

Kristin, on January 14, 2018 at 7:15 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 21
So we have decor meeting part 2 this week. The last decor meeting ended with me getting really anxious, leaving early, and crying in the car. I have trouble deciding on something I can't visualize. Anyway I'm looking for some ideas for centerpieces/table decor and place settings.

Color palette is gray and blue, like steel/slate blue, and then I wanted to mix in some metallics. I love the look of greenery and my bouquets will be greenery and ivory flowers with a couple peach blooms and blue thistle mixed in. I don't want it to look too rustic. The venue does these awesome hanging treatments and I'm torn about what to pick - leaning toward the mercury glass candle holders, but FH likes the lanterns.

I'm thinking we could do the mercury glass hanging and then maybe a couple of lanterns on the tables with a lot of greenery and some flowers. Or maybe some candles.

I already made table numbers and now I'm worried about them clashing with the hanging stuff. Also if we do the hanging mercury glass should we still have chargers? The venue only offers gold or silver chargers. Will that be too much metallic on the table? I think my problem is that I can't settle on the vision - it's somewhere between organic greenery but modern, I'm also drawn to the gold hexagonal shapes that are popular now. The venue is an industrial style downtown loft ballroom space - exposed brick, but a pretty blank slate.

Also there will be a mix of long rectangular tables and rounds so will need a plan for both.

Please help me narrow this down so I can go into the meeting with a plan! 😊

I would pick gold or silver but I wouldn’t mix them. I like the lanterns with garland on the table, they look really nice. With the color candle In the lantern I would use wedgewood linens. BM dresses are perfect. I like the white flowers.

For linens we were thinking of ivory and silver for tablecloths and wedgewood napkins and then wedgewood for the cocktail tables in bar area. But open to any other ideas! I may need to ask about runner options.

I'm not a big fan of gold with your colour scheme. Metallics are good but I'd stick with the silver tones to complement the ideas you have,

Firstly, I prefer the hanging silver mercury glass way better than the lanterns. I think the lanterns just don’t really mesh with the more modern style venue.

For your tables I would do Ivory Tablecloths, with silver chargers and blue napkins for some color, and obviously stick with silver for the flatware. Along with each place setting I would have printed menus in ivory that tie in a tiny bit of peach that’s in your bouquet with Navy print.

nstead of a table runner I would do a greenery garland interwoven with centerpiece of the same flowers in your bouquet. These can be small, but if your budget allows it would be beautiful to do a short tall short on the rectangular tables and one tall on the round. I would also disperse similar mercury glass tea light candle holder along the greenery garland to tie in your hanging decor.

Thats my thought of what would look nice... good luck I hope this meeting goes amazing!

Are chargers with garland too much on the table?

Thank you spook much! This sounds amazing! I feel the same about the lanterns, the venue also uses them quite often so there are a ton of photos that I've seen with them so I feel like they are a little over done.

For the ceremony space we can line the aisle with either those lanterns or glass vases with candles, so I was thinking of making FH happy by having them in the ceremony space.

Your bridesmaids dresses are amazing and all flow together. I like the idea of metallics, I think silver will complement your colors. Don't like the hanging lanterns, it doesn't go with the rest of your decor.

I'm a very visual person too, so I can relate to how you were feeling. I need pictures.

I wouldn't use either the hanging lanterns or the hanging mercury glass holders. The mercury glass is too small in scale and looks like busy-ness, for busy-ness' sake. The lanterns are the opposite- they overwhelm the space.

I would choose larger hanging greenery focal points.

With your beautiful color palette, I would choose copper or rose gold over either silver or gold. If you can't find copper chargers, you can spray paint inexpensive acrylic ones, or use a pewter color like this wedding.

I think a garland type centerpiece would look amazing with copper chargers.

You can also add some copper votives to the garland

If you really want something overhead, I would use either just a huge greenery arrangement , geometric holders with just greenery, or do a copper pipe overhead centerpiece just over the sweetheart or head able, or over the center of the room or dance floor.

Whatever you choose, with your palette, your wedding will be beautiful.

I love copper! My dad is making this arch for the ceremony! And our cake topper is copper wire. I will definitely ask them what they have for copper options for hanging stuff. Great idea for the chargers too! I could pull that off. The chargers from the venue are $1 each so I could probably DIY them for that price.

That is stunning. If you've already chosen copper for the ceremony, I would definitely use it for the reception. I would also move that arch from the ceremony to the reception to highlight the sweetheart table, cake table -something!!!

I know that Michaels has copper chargers.

Gold is too warm for your beautiful dresses and tone. i would do the silver mercury glass - im also a sucker for it! its everywhere in my decor too.

i would stick to the neutral table cloths, either ivory or silver/grey, and the floral centerpieces and runners are beautiful. i love the white flowers and greens together, it has a very modern overgrown look that matches your venue well. however, i would do blue napkins and white/silver tableware. blue for the pop of color you've chosen, but not too much blue. too much will overpower your modern venue, and its very beautiful. keep things simple and i think you'll be good to go. i love your color combination and i think the silver mercury will sparkle with the BP.

ETA copper would compliment it well too! i see in the comments that some people have posted it and you prefer it. copper or silver would be beautiful, i just think gold is too ... gold for the look you've chosen.

Thank you for the ideas!! We are going to have Moscow mules as one of the signature drinks so there should be lots of copper mugs around too!

I'm now thinking about using both mercury glass with a few copper accents too, but that may end up being too much. The design team at the venue promised to pull out some different pieces for more visuals and to have wine on hand so already this meeting will be better!
