Centerpiece help: Picnic theme

Kyersten, on December 2, 2013 at 5:39 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

Hi all!

My centerpiece vision is so fuzzy! My table numbers are going in an empty glass Coke bottle. And I have cute, picnic-looking empty baskets. That's where I am.

Please help me bounce around some ideas! MUCH APPRECIATED!

You could try big flowers like hydrangea, or prolly any assorted flowers. Maybe bread and fruit.

Oh! I haven't thought of fruit!!! What fruits would look nice?

Flowers were my original thought but I'm having trouble finding affordable ones (maybe I'm looking in the wrong places)?

I thought of giving a basket away to a person at each table (like a pick a number from the DJ). Is that cheesy?

@AMK - My first thought was apples too and baby's breath a couple of yellow roses (can be bought at the supermarket for about $10 a dozen on sale). Also Alstromeria are pretty and inexpensive. See if you can find some berries, such as Hypericum. Check Michael's or Hobby Lobby for fill stuff (like berries or wheat). You can use dried and they're pretty cheap. Lemons, limes and oranges are also pretty and have great color.

Something like this could work depending on your color scheme. I would fill it up more and use real or at least more lifelike flowers.

My color scheme is light blue and bright red. So maybe bright red apples would look nice? Super excited about this now! Smiley smile

Could also double as edible favors so you're not stuck with tons of fruit when it's all over

You can get light blue tinted babies breath to mix in with the white.

Good advice Lindsay. Hydrangeas and baby's breath can both be bought dried, which means you can put them together a few days ahead of the wedding. Fresh fruit should last a few days also. Maybe a few pears to add that pale green to the mix.

Okay - a little edit. Underneath the basket, use a red and white check piece of fabric. Just enough so the edges stick out.

I could even sneak in little things like local apple butter or apple cider to make it a good little gift.

I love this! I want to do a mock-up ASAP now for you wonderful helpers! Smiley smile

@Karen, I have thought of that as my theme is picnic and maybe a red gingham ribbon to tie the flowers? I think the table covers are white, so that pop of picnic color would be lovely.

What about a bottle of wine (or glass bottled coke), red apples, grapes and carrots with the greens still attached maybe a loaf of farmer's bread and some baby's breath

    Here's an idea:

Have you thought of using the basket for guest favors instead? I'm not sure how big your baskets are but I thought this was cute and matched your colors kinda

Here's an idea, you can kind of see the red apples but it has a cute table setting also. Maybe throw some blue in there somewhere...add some blueberries even?
