Center Pieces at a destination wedding

Marissa, on June 14, 2020 at 8:00 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 13

So has anyone here had a destination wedding and brought their own center pieces or relied solely on the resorts?

We brought ours 240 mile drive to a destination resort. Inn had colonial style stuff, or checkered homespun look, available free, that we did not like for our wedding style. 2 cartons, plus flowering plants. Easy.

I would never have done it if flying, not even a direct within the states flight. If they absolutely have nothing and you want vases, I would only bring my own if I could order a dozen or 2 in original shipping containers from a restaurant supply house. And they would be inexpensive glass, tall and short. Clear things with no place to hide drugs or contraband clear customs fast. With you present, or if shipped by a company.
In the tropics, only 2 trips, because tgere was so much over tge top greenery and huge flower blooms, everywhere had som tall floor or side table and buffet table high vases. Many that looked like enamel painted pottery were actually paper maché like light with a shiny or dull antique metal glaze, or cheap pretty pressed glass. And resorts had flowers , and supplied vases for exotic bunches tourists brought back to hotel rooms. So my guess is they will have them, or have a linked florist that will rent you 10 or whatever, a routine thing.

We drove everything to our wedding because it would have been too difficult to fly or ship it all there. We had candles in vases and then my florist added the greenery. Very simple Center Pieces at a destination wedding 1

I’m solely relying on the resort. Too hard to bring things on a plane, with wedding dress and stuff with me. I am planning on getting some of the items for the guests welcome gift and bringing them with me.

Hi! I'm in the same boat! We live in VA and flying to FL for our wedding. My resort doesn't offer centerpiece help so we are going to be making our own with picture frames using our engagement pics like the picture below but without the votives because that requires special paper for the light to shine through. There will be enough frames on each table for each guest to take home so we won't have to bring much back on our flight. We figured there would be close family members who will take the extras home with them if we have any leftover. We're going to put all the pictures in the frames and send everything to a relative in FL who will be driving to our wedding. Is that an option for you? Center Pieces at a destination wedding 2

I also want to add that it's super affordable. $.29 for each 3.5×5" print and simple dollar store frames. We calculated about $12 for each table and we have 7 total so about $65 for everything. Not bad for centerpieces and favors. Our wedding is super simple with only close family and friends so I feel like it works. We will also include a short handwritten note on the back of the frames to thank everyone for being a part of our special day.

Im not sure if thats an option. I Was thinking of three different things; asking the resort to send me their center piece pictures, making my own and bringing them with me, or hiring a wedding decorator from the area (as long as its not too pricy).

That's a really good idea. We didn't take engagement photos, but we still have really cute pictures together lol.

I posted a similar question on this forum a few days ago and someone suggested paper lanterns. They lay flat and are light so you can transport them fairly easily. Maybe something like that? Someone also mentioned using fruit as a decorative centerpiece.

Paper lanterns aren't a bad idea either. Thank you so much for your help.

We drove everything but we filled 3 SUVs. Would never have done that if we took a plane. Rent from the resort or a local rental company there.
