Celebrate their marriage or wedding?

Ours was something to the effect of, "request your presence as they exchange vows"

I agree that celebrate marriage sounds like you're already married and celebrate wedding is just weird to me. Go with get your ass to NJ and drink with me ;-)

Well, the point of the wedding is to celebrate your marriage. So I think the marriage part is correct.

Thanks!! I just decided to stop overthinking and leave it. It's one of those things that no one is going to notice.

I only look at invitations for the date, time and location so I can show up on time. I usually don't even read the wording.

I pulled up my proof to see what it said... I got it from minted and I loved the wording of the reception part (brunch and merriment to follow) so much I couldn't remember how it was worded for the actual marriage LOL. Mine says "please join us for the wedding of..."

I think either is fine.

I like celebrate their wedding. But I'm thinking in terms of wedding being a verb, like "to wed" this and that person.

I think we forget sometimes that "marry" is a verb, and it's a thing we're doing and that's what we're inviting people to. In this usage, "marriage" and "wedding" are synonyms, so just use whichever you prefer.

I used "the honour of your presence is requested at the marriage of".

I think I like marriage better.
