Ceilings at my Venue?

\m/ ^ ^ \m/, on June 19, 2010 at 1:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 28

Ok. My wedding is in a very not-so-fancy reception hall off to the side of a bar. So it needs some TLC. & if the money becomes available I'd like to do something like this. Image #1 is from FutureMrsWelch's post of her venue. I love the ceilings. Do you think this is possible in my venue, which is Image #2. The ceilings are 12 Foot. Maybe the wouldn't hand so low but we could cover the tile?!?

Added note, the tables won't be set up like this. & all of the chairs are going to be black. The red chairs will be put in the basement.

The fabirc cover should be easy to do but at what cost I don't know. As for the red chairs you always can cover them.

You could probably do that just not have the fabric swag down so low.

We've got a Hobby Lobby near by & they seem to always have some sort of sale going on their fabric. I know it's probably Organza. I'd have to look into it. My Dad could measure, etc. I was just curious if anyone thought the ceiling was too low for this effect. I really want to WOW the members when they see it. I want it to look TRANSFORMED. LOL.

If you google "wedding reception ceiling" or something similar, you can see all kinds of decorating ideas. Some have low ceilings too! I definitely think it's possible for you! Just don't have it drape so low. It will still look kick-ass & gorgeous! =0)

Here's a few inspiration pics that have kind of low ceilings... =0)

These ceilings are GORGEOUS. I've got to go visit my Dad soon with pictures in hang. He's going to shoot me!! But I want I want I want these ceilings!!!! I like how there are rows draping. It'll work better with our lighting that way. He's gonna have a ball. He likes to decorate, even if he won't admit it hahah.

Obviously, you have to check with your venue, but it looks like your venue has drop ceilings, which means you can probably tuck tulle in and drape it easily. We have drop ceilings at our venue too and are thinking of doing something like this with tulle and paper lanterns.

Oh my Daddy runs the venue. Hehe. I can do whatever I please as long as its reversible after the wedding. I've heard that there have been couples completely transform the place. I love that ceiling you posted, too. Man, I am all confused now. I guess I'll hand him the ones I like & let him & my Mom decide.

Evl, make sure you run the lights on the outside of the tulle... some of the lights get hot and that would not be good. Just on the cautious side.. i know you probably already knew that! Sorry!

Haha think you D&JWed!! My Dad would have corrected me if I were wrong. LOL. Now my question is how much fabric for a 25x25 room. Eck. I failed math but the equation I used as 25x25 (a squared) & I got 625. I do not think 625 ft is correct but maybe. And do I convery 625ft to yds? Oh I feel dumb

Well if I did the math right I just found fabric for under $50 online at www.giftsintl.com for folks looking for fabric!! I am using 18" Tulle in white. I am going to go over the math w/ my Dad soon to see if that will cover it. But I am thinking it will!! Yay for ribbony-cinderella ceilings!!!

First you would have to figure out how you want to do it... If you want to do it like this picture.. Then you would need less... If you want to do the full ceiling.. you would need more than what you figured due to the fact that you want the swag in it. You need to compensate for the amount of swag you want in it! Hope this helps as much as it can... What you can do is find some $1 a yard fabric and get about 16 yards... which is 8 yards for 25 feet... and double it for the swag... So if you can find a bunch of $1.00 fabric from Walmart... and measure it out that way!!!! So for less than $20.00 you can do a line in the venue to figure out how you want it to look! Good luck and let us know what you are gonna do !

K- the plan is to drap it every 6 ft & bring it to the middle (where there is a disco ball). I'll need 16 drapes to make the entire room. Each drape will need to be 15 ft. (Techincally 12.5) but 2.5 for swag. (This may not be enuff swag?!? If I do it this way I'll need 15 ft 16 times. Which is 240 ft. I'll need approx. 10 yards of fabric. I THINK. haha. I was thinking of actually going to a fabric store & asking someone. I am looking at $44.90 if I did the math right. If not, well, I'll start over. LOL. But thank you ladies for all of the lovely ideas!! And the drape I am planning to use is in FutureMrsWelsh last photo. I want to drape from wall to center of room all around.

I found out that my venue main room is 36ft by 40ft. I had originally guessed 25x25. HAHA boy was I wrong.

I thinking I found reasonable tulle. $4.49 spool/25 yds per spool. And I've figured that 8 spools will work perfect & may even leave some remaining for my archway. I am ordering my tulle for the ceiling from Gifts International. http://www.giftsintl-us.com/products.php?cat=85

This site is by far the cheapest!
